Rockets Have Matched Offer to Landry

    Hey everyone,

Just wanted to let you know that Morey will be addressing this today. I'm not sure when exactly but SR610 had been talking about this this morning.

    So we shall see.

Gotta let the fans down easily. He wants as little outrage as possible when he declines to match.

100% sure Morey will match. It's a little bit expensive but it's a short term contract with great flexibility.

is it good news or bad news, that he's already addressing it this soon.

I think it might be good news......maybe he looked over the contract and thought "that's a no brainer". To me if he wasn't going to bring Landry back, he'd atleast spend a couple of days thinking about his decision.

    I hope I'm right.

I'm sure it's good news. I highly doubt he would address it this soon if it wasn't.

I'm leaning towards good news, but then why would he need a press conference to explain the decision if he just does what we're all expecting?

I think Carl is coming back, too. But did he ever get that knee checked out, by the way? I thought Morey was waiting on that

Likely, the rockets will match it, but I heard that the concerns about the knee are real, so there is a 20-30% chance for the rockets to not match it. To me, I would like to see the match, but if it is not, it is still not a bad decision, Morey is smart, I am 100% behind him right now.

Morey will match. Guaranteeing $6 million over 2 seasons is pocket change, especially since the Rockets were offering 3yrs/$6.2 million. The team option for year 3 makes it an even bigger no-brainer. Anyone who thinks the Rockets won't match has forgotten how effective Landry was in stretches last season before his injuries. Scola starting and being backed up by Landry took the Rockets to another level. If the knee were a significant problem, the Rockets wouldn't have offered him what they did.

As a very efficient player who hustles, is physical and doesn't need the ball in his hands to be happy, Landry fits the team well as a backup PF. That's his niche in the NBA.

The press conference was called so the Rockets could show their proper respect to him.

    Welcome back Carl.

    That is true....

BTW...Does anybody know the time this is going to down? Usually when someone says they're going to have a announcement they tell want time the press should be there.

c'mon with the NBa now days, they know what they got with his knee. It was all a game. Last season when he got those MRI's and evaluations. they wouldn't have let him play if it was as big of an issue as it is now. They know what they have, and what they are getting!!

Okay, now that Artest is onboard does this impact Landry's time on the court. Dude is definitely not a center and Higgins should be shot for saying that. I think Landry has the same amount of minutes and I think we can all agree that without his hops he isn't as effective.

    Actual Rotations:
Bigs (Yao, Scola, Landry, Chuck, & Artest = C & PF)
SG & Fwds (Artest, Battier, Tmac, Barry, Head, & Steve)
    PG (Alston, Brooks, & Steve)
    Fodder (Harris, Dorsey, etc...)

    Yao/Scola/Chuck
    Scola/Landry/Chuck
    Artest/Battier/Barry
    Tmac/Barry/Head
    Alston/Brooks/Francis

Francis is still not a 100% and but will get an opportunity in camp.

I know his knee is a concern but Landry is too good to be let go like this. I think Morey thinks like a lot of us Rockets fans, and he knows it's must to sign Landry.

You guys have it wrong. This isn't about whether Morey will match or not. Whether Morey wants Landry. Whether Morey needs money to pay Artest. Its Les. Les Alexander will be making this move. Whatever it is.

There's not a time but I would have to say after the blood drive. I'm sure that's when Morey will address the media about this.

morey is in the business of stockpiling assets. he's said that time and time again. matching the contract is a no brainer.

why? because if landry is healthy and productive then it's obvious, but lets talk worst case scenario. lets say landry has an injury (knee) plagued year and is less productive than last season when healthy.

this years salary would be annoying, but next season he would be an ending contract which is easy to move, hell it would be a nice asset to teams trying to dump salary for the following summer (2010).
