daryl over the past few months, theoretically stocked up on assets tailormade for a dwight howard trade, even though it was crystal clear from months back that howard would absolutely refuse to ever re-up in houston. please ask him if he now regrest making our roster look like a lopsided disaster in his obviously futile effort to acquire dwight and what, if anything, he intends to do at this point to start balancing it out. please also ask him if he regrets the scola amnesty...
Worst case we tank the hell out of this season and get a high pick. I'm perfectly fine with the result. We were either going to get Dwight or suck terribly. Enough with the mediocre 9 seed seasons.
It will PR spin as usual but it's fun to read between the lines. Unfortunately, can't seem to make the station play.
Exactly....This deal has the smell of "Sorry about the Chris Paul" trade from Stern... There is absolutely no way Orlando does this deal compared to what Houston was giving up in comparison without(Stern)moving behind the scenes... The only way I see Orlando doing this is if they have been guaranteed something else down the line, something not so "offical"
We will be keeping salary cap flexibility to make that deal for an all star type player or a player who can become an allstar when the right moment comes
No, he'll say 'We're always looking to upgrade our roster.' He's not gonna say we're done or not done making moves.
Ok, but we didn't necessarily need to dump scola, free up cap space with the courtney lee trade, etc. i'm saying we had about a dumb and dumber chance of ever getting howard, and yet we made 14 transactions to cue up for orlando. and are now saddled with more a roster 70% comprised of undersized power forwards..
That's the best case scenario at this point. The worst case would be trading for marginal players and being a .500 team again.
LOL. I would like to hear the same questions. If you want to get more straight forward, I would ask "why in the blue hell did you ever think that you had chance even when Dwight said at the very beginning (which was like months and months before this whole debacle) he would not resign with Houston?"
Just thought it was funny that as soon as I clicked on the link that was the very first thing I heard them say.
Chit chat about Olympics, Rio. Surprised about trade? -->Not surprised, in communication -->Makyla face reaction -->Comfortable with youth movement Hennigan's comment about Offer Sheets? -->Only opinion that matters is Rob's -->Big trades come down to how people value players in the deal Feel like you were close? -->Yeah, I do. -->They kept searching for something they liked more -->They decided this was the best deal Are agents becoming too involved? -->I think they're appropriately involved -->They are protecting their client's interests New CBA about leveling playing field...but Nash, Howard, is new CBA closing the gap? -->You're trying to get me in trouble Matt! -->I have strong opinions, but have to keep them to myself -->1-15 on roster, have lots of trade assets (lol) Do you have to draft a homegrown star at this point? -->We feel good about our chances, draft picks, cap space, etc -->Ready to pull trigger when we get the chance Any more roster moves? -->Talking to a few FAs -->Comfortable rolling with what we got, but always looking to do more Lot of PFs, roster balance, ability to get guys minutes to develop? Let best guy emerge? -->Better to have more bigs -->Some can play C -->Want uptempo, mobile team -->Will have unconventional 5s (hybrid 4s) Lin/Martin starting backcourt? -->McHale question Talked to McHale? (mistake) Talked to Martin? -->Last year of deal, disagree with perceptions of unprofessionalism -->doesn't need contract year motivation Injuries were why he didn't play well? -->Yeah...and other reasons which I can't bring up affected him (hmmmm) Closing up chit chat
