UPDATE: Matt Jackson says Daryl Morey will actually be on at 5:30pm. Listen live: http://www.iheart.com/live/2257/?autoplay=true <HR> Morey just landed back in Houston after being in London for the Olympics. He will be on SportsTalk 790 with Charlie Pallilo around 5.45 PM. I am interested to hear what he has to say about the Howard trade.
Typical crap he always says after losing out on other superstars lol. I like Morey, but holy crap, he is probably carrying some sort of curse. He just can't seem to land the big price. This asset collection crap has not been working out.
It's a numbers game at this point. Too much bad luck with attracting the big fish so eff it.....might as well draft it up and take ur chances with hittin on the big fish that way. He tried for years and now I think Les is gonna have to be okay with rebuilding. No more quick fixes. Do it the right way!
Wasn't for a lack of trying. Can't force these things. We like our guys and we're excited about the upcoming season. Can't comment on the Carlos Delfino reports. We're always looking to upgrade our roster. blah blah blah
I'm hoping they really do commit to rebuilding. There is no reason that there should be rumors that we are interested in Delfino and Najera. I'm hoping we can trade Martin away as well. If superstars will never want to come to Houston then we'll have to draft the superstars ourselves. I hope we get lucky enough to land some good picks soon enough.
Hennigan said it 'met the requirements' can you ask morey what about our deal that 'didnt meet the requirements'? thanks
Can you ambiguously ask him if our offer for an unnamed superstar was better than what the unnamed team ultimately received? And was the offer at some point in time pulled off the table by us?
Star players are aligning with agents and leveraging their way to wherever they want to go, with the biggest markets: NY and LA, winning out more often than not. Tax free party destination Miami has fared pretty well also. Some of the smaller markets have had major success building through the draft: San Antonio and OKC. Morey has been quite aggressive but you can't force free agents to choose houston. I really don't see houston as being in a bad situation: they've landed some very big names through the draft and fashioned one of the early versions of a big 3 years ago. Morey is a good GM, but under Stern's corrupt regime and with big names commanding their destination of choice, the odds are stacked against houston, despite the willingness of morey to explore every angle
Matt, please suggest to him to not do any bandaid trades at this point. We lost out on Howard, we need to accept it. No need to go out at this point and trade for a Jefferson or a Smith who only makes us marginally better. Lets run with this group and have some fun this season. They might not be very good but at least we know they will play with heart and be a lot of fun to watch.
sorry my mistake hennigans actual words were "accomplished our objectives" so what in our trade did not accomplished their (ORL) objectives?
