options, tried, didn't happen, few places to try to hop in, frankly were able to get some of the guys in the 2nd we were thinking about hopping into the 1st to get

thanks to Les for letting us jump in and not having to give up any basketball assets

rumors - any of them true? smoke? more smoke than fir really, were on the chase.. teams play their options, if you are trying to move them, you have to be aggressive and lose your leverage a bit, teams ended up just keeping their picks, other teams just decided not to make deals

pleased the core remained, sometimes you have to be willing to lose some to upgrade

Jermaine Taylor - about him, end of Von Wafer? Von is a FA, as is Ron, both are still very good players, and we have to evaluate options, he and Chase are somewhat longshots, we like their talent, lot of work to do to evaluate, will go with the best options, just have to figure it out

latest on Yao? nothing new, stress fracture, didn't respond to first course of treatment, mostly rest, rest was the right option, if that works it's ideal, and wouldn't affect any other options then, now we have to try something different

West? anyone a lot better outside of SA? And what the heck is Minny doing? Guy is doing a good job, trying to rapidly remake the team, roster balance got messed up a bit, lots of PF's and PG's, trades probably coming, but hard to know

Anything significant? Orlando and Cleveland did, got better and didn't give up too much, but have not really had a chance to really study all the moves yet... most real moves in the West should be coming in FA

going to take a little time off now? No complaints, every job is hard, this is 'management' type period, our time to make the team better, takes a lot of time, but we would never trade it for anything

we will try to be opportunistic, like last year with Ron, but those things are rare

Ron - can't talk to he or Von until July 1st

    pretty much it

    RECAP

*Throughout the first round had a few places to try to hope in, but we were able to get some of the guys we wanted in the first round in the second.

*Thanks the fans for supporting the team which allowed them to buy so many picks without giving up any players.

*Thinks there was way more smoke then fire on all the trade rumors.

*Thinks Von and Ron are very good players, but we have to evaluate all options to see if second round picks can displace Von's minutes or if resigning them is the best thing.

*Regarding Yao: Rest was the best option, but that did not work out. It was disappointing that rest didn't work, but now we need to get opinions to see where we go from there.

*Thinks David Kahn will do a good job in Minny, but they need to balance roster and will have trades coming because of so many PFs and PGs.

*Thinks Cleveland, Orlando, and SA got good players without giving up so much. But he hasn't had much of a chance to study everyone's picks and trades.

*Most moves from West teams will probably be in free agency.

*We have to be opportunistic and be ready for any deals that may come up.

That's hard to believe on Taylor. They paid $2.5M for his pick in a weak draft. Landry was drafted a spot higher and only cost them $1M. The Rockets forked out 1st round pick money for a 2nd rounder because they were desperate.

We could see Tracy untraded and injured. Then Ron and Von not re-signed. Worst case scenario Taylor is the starting SG come opening night.

Morey is a negotiator not some pushover. Tracy's value will only go higher once the season starts because teams that were holding out hoping for us to offer more for good players in exchange will just buckle and except T-mac and MAYBE some other players.

When we got Donte Green last season Morey knew Sac wanted him and played that to his advantage to get Artest.

    Have faith.

Wrong. Worst case scenario is Rockets click at the beginning of the season only to have TSlack come back in the lineup and ruin yet another season with a first round exit.

Morey must have been REALLY high on this kid then.

And how is that worst case scenario? Obviously, Taylor must have done well in the preseason for him to crack the rotation.

Morey did call Yao's injury a "stress fracture". So, is it official, then, that it occurred due to accumulated stress on his foot, like the season before?

We actually gave Seattle $1 million and a future second round pick for Landry. We just paid cash, no picks, for Taylor. The cost is really about the same. And we weren't desperate for Landry, either.

I believe a pick was given in the Landry deal, too, in addition to the $1 million. Is that wrong?
