Obviously, Brooks is a good backup pg. But, he is not a starting material! Rafer is not a good starting pg too! It had been said for years. Morey, please don't take a chance on our current pgs. Make a trade for a good pg! Please!!!
Clutch should make a rule that no new threads can be created 2 hours after a win or a loss to prevent knee-jerk reaction threads. We didn't have our STARTING POINT GUARD, so obviously our offense isn't going to be smooth and our shot selections are going to be slurred. Brooks played a solid game, but he doesn't deserve a spot in the starting lineup. Rafer Alston is a above-average defender who would not have let Hill burn past us. P.S. Get ready to be flamed and insulted by every other Western elite fan, and massively by all Spurs fans.
Brooks plays better with another ball handler like Alston or Barry, that puts Brooks half time as SG. If Brooks is the primary ball handler, he's crap. I hate this kind of midget SG. outplayed by George Hill, WTF!
Hill was getting a screen from Duncan every time down the court. How is that Brooks' fault that he is getting picked by Duncan and then Yao can't stop Hill from shooting layups?
this game goes to show, brooks should not be starting......rafer is adequate.......good defender, runs the offense well, and is an above average rebounder for a pg........any PG upgrade over him is slight unless you're talking about the perennial all star pg's........ i'd rather take a 3-9, 7 assist effort from rafer than a 6-16 or whatever brooks had today and 3 assists........this team is ultimately not going to win or lose based on how many pts they get from the pg position.
Actually, this is not new! Brooks was outplayed by Hill in the summer league! The rockets need a good playmaking pg! Morey needs to make a trade immediately! Otherwise, the rockets are nowhere to go in the WC.
wow, so many people overreacting, how about Aaron Brooks had EIGHT REBOUNDS, and ONLY 2 TURNOVERS, which i believe came in the 4th qrtr, now i know that's not a good thing, but he played 3 quarters without turning the ball over, in the 4th he showed he needs some more experience, but a lot of that had to do with the Spurs having A LOT of experience. He was 6 of 17, which is bad for a starting PG, but not that bad for a 2nd yr player who didn't have much Pt last year and now early in the season he's asked to play 40 mins + after only playing 20 something minutes a game previously. If you want to blame someone, blame the guy who was 2 for 12, and the guy who let the 2 for 12 guy take 2 important shots in the final 2 minutes and let Brooks challenge a great defender like TD. In other words, tmac and Adelman...
Brooks is an undersize sg! He is not a good playmaker! He cannot run our offense well! Actually, this was showed very clearly in SL. He was outplayed by Barrerra! BTW, I don't understand why the rockets don't give Barrera a chance!
Several guys get outplayed in summer league, so what? There's a video floating around of MJ getting outplayed by a n old CEO, so what? You can't keep insisting Brooks sucks just because of Barrera. there was a time when Sarunas Jasekevicious was schooling team USA, but where is he now? Its not about one or two games, its about a whole season. Brooks has shown so far he's capable as a pg, yes he's a scoring point, but the point is IT WAS NOT HIS FAULT WE LOST. Rafer wasn't going to fix Tmac's bad shooting night and Rafer wouldn't have done much better on that layup against TD. 75% or more of the players in this league would have been rejected too.
I was at the game, Brooks played fine, when Hill scored, Brooks had funneled his man to the middle where he is supposed to, and Yao failed to shut it down. Did you see Duncan shut down the baseline on AB on that last play? That is what Yao is supposed to do. Brooks did ok. The problem was not his tonight, it rested squarely with McLazy.. DD
That's right! He did his best, but he just could not do it! Jasekevicious sucked. But, it doesn't mean every pg from other country sucks! Jose Calderon, Tony Parker, and even Steve Nash are all great pgs! Why don't give Barrera a try?!

If Aaron Brooks isn't good enough to be a starting PG then who is? He had a 14pt night on bad shooting and lead the team in assist and REBOUNDS!!! Everyone should just stop masking the truth... its Tracy's inability to score on a consistent basis and his lack of effort that's really hurting the team. I DONT hate Tmac, and he's a great person and one of my favorite players but he's just not a "go-gettha." It's just the TRUTH.
They didn't run the PnR with Brooks in the 4th quarter...and when they DID run it....they stepped out hard on the man with the ball eliminating the play.......it was the pickers fault.....since they were doing that, SOMEONE has to recognize that and slip the screen to keep them honest. Brooks played fine...I was at the game, he was playing ok....14 point lead with him running the show surrounded by shooters, then we take out Wafer put in Tstink and gave him the ball and the scoring and ball movement STOPPED. TStink sucked. DD
