ESPN Insider is such a joke. Long-term goals paramount for Rockets GM Morey By JONATHAN FEIGEN http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/7318348.html Mr. Feigan letting us know whats going on.
Agree, basically translates to "we don't want to be 42-40 again". Like I said in the other thread, Yao/AB coming back is the litmus test for this team. If they come back and do well then it might take them into more of "medium term" outlook but if the club continues to stink...rebuilding here we come or "long term" thinking.
I still think we should go after Iguodala. He is still relatively young and very professional and could definitely replace Battier. He would also certainly be a lot better than Battier as well.
Yup.. helps with our present and future since he's signed for the next 3 more years. He's a multi-tooled player that can shoot, dish, rebound, and has a lot of athleticism and not a big injury prone history. Bring in Elton Brand as well.. i think he would help solidify our front line with better defense.
This just confirms Morey's genius. He clearly means with several of these statements that he wants to tank for Perry Jones to shore up our small forward spot, Championship contender, here we come.
We should make 2 trades, one involving Brooks or Martin for a big PG with Passing and defending habilities, the second involving, Yao, picks and Biddinger for Carmelo. Whatever you want about Yao, but this year´s team was originally thoght to revolve around Yao, first appeared the 24 minute limit mark, and now he is injuried. The guy failed to play. Nice guy, great player, a superstar when healthy, but injuried half of that time. Let´s move on. You get a defensive C, a PG and Carmelo and back on track.
The key line to that article was how it mentions Yao merely as an expiring contract. How far the big giant has fallen
He's basically admitting defeat in the short term and medium term. Wake me up when the long term gets here. It's already been 15 years. I guess that isn't long term enough. We need a longer long term. Do me a favor and dig me up from my grave and plop me down in front of a TV when the long term results we are looking for arrive.
I know Adelman is a smart guy, but damn I wish he would give us more insightful answers. He says the same thing over and over again, It's annoying. It gives me the impression he is doing the same thing over and over in practice expecting a different result.
I completely agree. He should tell the fans what he's doing at all times. Maybe even open up practices to the public and get mic'd up for the game and stream it live and uncensored...
I think Morey thinks we have some solid pieces already to play well, but he fails to mention whether he thinks our coaching staff is getting it done as far as what combination of those pieces work well together or how they motivate the players to play smarter and avoid making the mistakes that keep costing us games. He hasn't addressed the lack of mental toughness that seems prevalent in the players out there and who will be called upon to lift the team when it gets down. When you have a roster of one/two-dimensional role players, you as a coaching staff have to convince these players to accept their roles and only play to their strengths. I see our players trying to do things they weren't meant to do and failing to the things they are good at.
Pretty much. Think about this for a minute, look at a team like the pacers and the team they have now and the expirings they have that are easily moveable. Hibbert, granger, collison, rush, are all pretty good young players. They have foster,tj,and dunleavy as very moveable expiring contracts. I'm sure they're looking to the future as well and every gm who will not win it in the next couple of years should as well. So how can a team be all in and look toward a ring at the same time?
