Hey...where is Jesse Jackson in all this?? Isn't this the kinda thing he really gets into and fights against?? How about Sheila Jackson Lee?? I hate to play the race card again in this (remember before i said that most of the kids involved in this thing were not white..and if they had been, or if it had been further out in the suburbs it would have been "just kids being kids")...but do you think their absence has anything to do with the amount of melanin in the epidermis of our current mayor and police chief?? just curious...
Could be. I know that there is far fewer calls for investigations into possible police corruption in Dallas now that the Department has an African-American Chief. Of course, the local African-American leaders probably feel they can go to the Chief privately and feel he will listen and act, so they don't have to make noise in public to get action. Plus, we're all a little more willing to overlook some things when our guy is in there (that's usually not centered on race among white people, but I know that sort of thing happens in regards to political affiliation... if that makes any sense).
