There was a (big) rumor involving a Nets / Rockets trade.
Swift for Jackson + 1st round draft pick.

Swift is 8.6 points (49 %) and 4.1 rebounds in 21 minutes. It makes 19.6 points and 9.4 rebounds in 48 minutes.
Jackson is 5.1 points (41 %) and 3 rebounds in 14 minutes. It makes 17.5 points and 10.3 rebounds in 48 minutes.

Swift (26 years) is 6'9 for 225 and plays PF.
Jackson (30 years) is 6'10 for 253 and plays PF or C.

Last year at Philadelphia, Jackson was 12 points (46.5 %) 5 rebounds in 24 minutes (24 points and 10 rebounds in 48 minutes) and he plays lots of minutes at center.

We have a serious problem with Yao and several weeks of absence and we need a C.
Jackson is strong and knows playins at the 5.
Swift is disapointing since the beginning of the season.
Deke is 39 ans is starting to be a little old.

Jackson would be a good "number 2" at center ans can also playing at the 4.

And Van Gundy always makes Howard starting.

    The Nets are 11-12.
We could have a good draft choice.

Overall, with our pick and the Nets one, we could obtain a better pick for those two and bring Shelden Williams for example.

    Then ?

I don't think this would be a good move. Swift is much more athletic and has way more upside than Marc Jackson. Although Swift is not the brightest tool in the shed, just doesn't make any sense to give Swift up for a MEDIOCRE PLAYER AT BEST.

The only way it would make sense to deal Swift now would be a deal involving a player like Artest. PERIOD.

Swift still has great potential. He's still sought after by other teams, for his current production, although it hasn't met our expectations. Have patience with Stromile, he'll come around.

Keep Swift. With the injuries we will fall to 8 seed or worse. Use the opportunity to draft a top talent in the next draft. Yao will heal, as will everybody else. We have MacGrady, Yao, Head relativley young and for the long haul. Lets add another piece to our future championship team.
ALso, Howards numbers should increase a lot these next few weeks, inflating his trade value. Trade Howard in February, if a good opportunity arises.

Nets want to trade Jackson because him and Nenas Krstic make a very, very soft interior. I don't see the benefit of him over Swift.

Yao+Mutombo+Howard+Jackson+Baxter = the slowest nonathletic front court in all of basketball. This teams needs athletes badly.

Make a call to Indiana and Scot Pollard can be yours!

    Maybe Artest too...

I'd prefer to have the sharpest tool in the shed, but that's just me.

keep swift, dont get rid of athleticism and young age.

    We need more athleticism.

We should start thinking about the future as of NOW!!!

Sorry guys, this team is not making a Championship run this year.

The only way that would even happen if we are ALL healthy during the playoffs, and we suddenly start to mesh as well as the other top teams mesh.

What about that rumor about richard jefferson being in the trade. With him, we would own. The nets give up jackson and jefferson for swift and anyone else. Probably wesley or something cause that nets owner is a cheap a**. He loves expiring contracts(i am assuming)

Sure Jackson isn't the best of the best. But what I like about the trade is the 1st round pick. This season doesn't look to be our season. I don't advocate losing on purpose, but let's be serious, our best chance of winning is a couple years down the road. With 2 first round picks (middle, probably), we can draft some good talent. Some athletic talent. I'm not saying that's the best deal and that we should pull the trigger, but it's not too shabby in the long run.

They been saying he has potential the day he was drafted and he will retire with the same potential. Swift has completed 5 yrs in the NBA with similar stats every year. If that don't spell bust, I don't know how else you can spell it. TRADE HIM NOW!!!

Well I see your point, but I am not ready to give up on this season yet. I'd like to see the Rockets make a run regardless of the garbage adversities.

It'll prove the character this team upholds.

You know I would love to get that kid JJ Redick, he is a deadeye shooter but I think he is going to be a high pick, we could use an unprotected first round pick.

Swift needs to produce with Yao out of the lineup. If he lays an egg while Yao is out his trade value may plummet.

Marc Jackson is a BAD basketball player. Everybody in the league knows this. He doesn't do anything good. He's slow.. can't jump.. can't shoot.. can't defend.. can't pass.. the list goes on. then he b****es and moans about playing time to top it off. As bad as Stromile has looked at times he does have his moments. you say hey this kid's a player. Marc Jackson on the other hand, he doesn't have his moments.

bad trade all the way around.
