The wife of my best friend from my college years recently received a diagnosis of breast cancer just two weeks before Christmas. She tells me that she has a large agressive tumor and has tested positively for cancer cells in 11 lymph nodes but not in any of her other major organs. Ironically, she is a major-league research scientist and has been doing a lot of work in the genetics of breast cancer. She and my friend have two boys, 11 and 16. She is only ~47 years old. Lots of prayers on their behalf would be appreciated.
Being on the phone with her was difficult. She lives in Utah, so there's not much we can do to help. As she was telling me of her situation, the phone would go quiet and I could hear her sobbing deeply and then struggling to regain her composure. What an awful development....
Make sure you harp on the fact that positive thinking can go a long way. RM95's Girl's Mom was given days to live in 1999 and she refused to listen. Now the cancer's in remission.
