We lost game 7 by 40, but one thing I found very interesting is Rockets actually threw a few lobs to Yao when Dampier or Dirk was fronting him and Yao scored easily. So Dallas had to play Yao honest in the 4th quarter. In turn Yao got 23 shot attempts, more than any game during the season. Everybody says Yao has trouble against players who is strong and quick enough to front him because he can't catch lob passes. It obviously wasn't the case in game 7, those lob passes were quite effective. I have no idea why it didn't happen more often in the previous 88 games. I even wonder if Rockets practiced that enought times before this year's playoffs. I hope we'll see more lobs to Yao next season.
I thought it was pretty Classless to keep Dirk & Dampier in for so Long...your up by 30+ and you keep starters in the game??? I had so much respect for Avery Johnson until this series...Now I think he's a jerk. Charging at the officials after game 1 (measely 10K fine...I guess a coach repeating what an official says is a lot worse than a coach trying to attack a ref) His furious tirade & cheap shots at Van Gundy after game 6 (and leaving the mic in a hissy-fit), and then running up the score for No reason. I've lost all respect for the guy.
If you lose by 40, thats on you. I don't blame Avery for playing his starters. The Rockets have no one to blame for a 40 poibt ass-whooping but themselves. They allowed that to go on. If JVG takes out his starters, thats on JVG.
The lobs worked because the Mavs decided to stay with our shooters. Basically we need to have 4 good shooters on the floor for the lob to work. I hope we get those shooters out there because the lob is highly successful.
