I mentioned this in my last thread, but I've got a couple more gigs this week if anyone feels like dropping by. My band, orange is in (http://www.orangeisin.com) plays this Thursday at the Rhythm Room (http://www.rhythmroomhouston.com) at around 10:30pm. It's us, Slop Jar Jr. and Peter Scafidi. Then, my drummer and I are doing a fill in gig with a Celtic band this Friday at Ovations (in Rice Village). Not sure of the start time, but I'm guessing 9pm or thereabouts. Come one, come all.
I love Celtic. Sorry I'll miss that Jeff, I would'a bought you a Guinness! FWIW a musician I used to work with travelled to Ireland every year and would just 'join in' at pubs all over. Sounded like fun.
I'm not a big Celtic fan or anything. The violin player in orange is in has done a lot of Celtic stuff and this is her band. Music isn't bad and I really enjoy playing with Leesa, my drummer. We always kick ass. By the way, I would also recommend going to the Rhythm Room Sunday night. A band called Dig is playing and it has some MONSTER musicians in it including a good friend of mine, drummer Chris Axelrad. Chris is one of the best drummers in Texas. Playing with him is seriously like playing with Dennis Chambers or Carter Beuford. He is also a HUGE Rockets fan. The band is a Meters-style groove band. They should be good.
Jeff: Sorry I can't make the gigs -- I'm in PA. But would you please tell Chris Axelrad hello for me? We're old friends. Like from teenage years -- he used to drum while I sang and danced at the JCC. Good times... And say hi to Leesa too, as always. Two of the best drummers Houston's ever seen. You're lucky to be playing with them both. I'm sure they feel the same about you.
Thanks. I will. I've only played with Chris a couple times. Most of the time when we get together, it is Rockets related, not music. But, he's phenomenal. I love playing with Leesa. We are like musical twins. We have really great musical chemistry, which just makes playing a real joy.
