Popeye I hope you can back me up on this. Sources are telling me that Cuban and Krause talked about a scenario in which Chicago had the #1 and would trade it to Dallas along with Fizer for Finley and LaFrentz! WHY CANT THE ROCKETS DO THE SAME DEAL?!? I woud do it in a heartbeat. Thats why Krause wants that pick really bad. He can get Finley and LaFrentz. Surely we have someone we can throw in that would equal Fizer right?
Do the salaries work out? It seems like Dallas would have to take on a bit of filler (but I guess they're the one team that can/will do that). Now that I think about it, I'd do it. But would Cuban? I'd be surprised he'd pull the trigger on that. They've got a good thing going in Dallas right now. I was under the impression that they wanted to protect their core; I think it would be a mistake to do otherwise.
ESPN has reported it now to confirm my source. Krause and Cuban had this discussion. Small problem; Chicago doesnt have the 1st pick, Rockets do LOL
Thats crazy. For one the salaries have to be within 15%. Thats why the grizz traded SAR and the pick for brevin knight and lorenzen wright to match SAR salary. Seeing finley makes about 14mil per and Reaf is a free agent who sux anyway any deal with those two would have to involve Rose or Robinson. Fizer probably wouldn't do much in the west in ways seeing in though he couldn't beat out a high schooler for playing time.
Yes...its a subscription service I believe. That is where it is being reported. I cant give a link cuz I dont have a subscription.
Fellas, I cant find the article where it said that on Insider but i remember reading something to that extent. It was more of a commentary by Ford as to what Cuban could do to move up if I remember correctly. Anyhow, I posted some other Insider stuff this AM in another thread.
Prior to the lottery, on May 13th, Chicago Tribune writer Sam Smith wrote and article entitled "An inside straight ; If Bulls ace lottery and then deal with Mavs, playoffs could be in cards ". There he suggested that if the Bulls won the lottery they should do a deal like #1 and Fizer for LaFrenz and Finley. He argued that a deal like that could get the Bulls into the playoffs. It was a suggestion on his part, he didn't say that the deal was actually being discussed. After the story came out, Mark Cuban responded by laughing at the deal and that's when he gave the quote about Shawn Bradley being better than Yao Ming right now. The Chicago Trib doesn't let you view archived columns, but if anybody has the overwhelming urge to pay $3.00 for it, then you can purchase it from http://www.chicagotribune.com . Simply search for articles older than 7 days and containing the words Ming and Finley.
*YAWN* Yeah yeah, my source told me this too....ESPN radio. Dallas wants Ming, it's no secret. Chicago loves Finley, it's no secret.
I don't think that Cuban will trade the #1 offensive option just to take a chance on an unknown commodity like Ming. Could you imagine Bradley, Ming, and Zhi Zhi on the same team? I don't think that Stern would allow that. Seriously, Mark just signed Finley to a long term deal, and LaFrentz is a free agent. This deal may have been mentioned, but don't think that Mark would do something like that.
Why is this even being discussed? Ming is better than any of those guys. You'd rather have a good shooting guard and a lame power forward than the nba's best center for the next decade?
Jesus tap dancing Christ dude, this is an old thread. Why are you doing this man? How is it important to bug people about something they said half a year ago? You're trying to bust out with the ole' "I told you so" routine, but were you even a member when this thread started?
