Bottom line: NASA is give a "One or the other" scenario.

    Millie

    Or Auntie En

Realize that is this is a Houston-based message board, and therefore your votes matter.

Since NASA is largely about exploration, the ship that can cross the galaxy in a day or two would be much more useful than the one that takes 80 years or more to do the same thing, so the Falcon. Now, there are other technologies on board the Enterprise that would be worthwhile to have, like transporters, but that version didn't have holodecks or replicators so you aren't losing as much taking the Falcon as compared to the Enterprise-D.

I like the Enterprise even if it can't do the Kessel Run in under 4 Parsecs.

As far as "RECOGNITION" because of its iconic meaning, the USS Enterprise (my vote).

BUT... Why in the F did you use the one from the newer movies?!!?!?!?

The one from the series is a lot more iconic. Less "shiny" crap.

The Enterprise is a lot smoother and more aesthetically pleasing.

The Star Wars one looks messy.

So . . Millie is faster than Auntie En?
The concept of speed in the Star Wars universe kind of threw me off and I never looked too deeply into it.

Was the Falcon 'Warping' [which we saw the imperial ships do as well]
    or something else?

Star Trek was more centered around and in the Enterprise than Star Wars was centered around the Millenium Falcon. The Enterprise has just been used a lot more. The original series, Next Generation, Enterprise, as well as the films. It's more a centerpiece of its series than the Millenium Falcon is.

No. It simply shifted into light speed. Technically not warping, but might as well have been.

As it has been said, it's kind of a one sided argument. The Star Trek series was much more centered around the Enterprise than the Star Wars series was centered around the Millennium Falcon. The Falcon was the most recognized ship in the Star Wars universe, but the Enterprise was THE ship of the Star Trek universe.

Probably true, but the death star, star destroyer, and xwing are pretty recognizable too.

No, they just say make the jump to lightspeed. They cross about half the galaxy in a matter of hours, possibly days. For comparison, it was going to take Voyager 80+ years to go from the Delta quadrant to the Alpha Quadrant. Star Wars hyperdrive is as to warp as warp is to the space shuttle.

The quote is, "She'll make point five past lightspeed." Clearly they are not going 1.5c, because they travel to many different star systems in the course of days at most. It is possible that in hyperspace they are traveling at 1.5c, but they are then also doing some sort of space compression in conjunction with that, because as I said previously, they cover in days what it would take Voyager 80 years to travel at warp.
