Yeap... more GEEK stuff... to debate... :p

How do you pronounce "SATA" as in "SATA drive"?

    SAY-tah (long first A, short second A)

    or

    SAH-tah (short first A, short second A)

I say it the "long first A" way. I figured most people in the hardware industry and IT workforce do. This goes along with "DAH-ta" and "DAY-ta" for data.

    SAY-Tuh.

Isn't it correct to just spell it out though? Like you wouldn't call a USB an OOHSSB.

^ Yeah, you're right about those, but most of us who remember the now defunct "SCSI" now it's SCUZZY and the Graphical User Interface is a GOOEY. :(

RAM is straight up in this ho, watch me SIMMS it, watch me roll.

I prefer the New English enumeration where the A is silent.

I always say "Serial ATA". The pronunciation of "SATA" just never caught on with me.
