The Houston Rockets need to sellout everygame or close to everyone. Did you see how the fans were going crazy last night, the rockets definitely fed off the fans energy. We really need what they call "Home Court Advantage". Look at the Sacramento Kings and the Dallas Mavericks, they sell out basically every home game no matter who their playing and look at their record. So i think that we (Clutchcity.net) need to do something to encourage the fans to showup to the games. I know for sure that I would be going to the games but I live in Miami, Fl. We need to have opposing teams worried to come into the Compaq Center because of the crazy atmosphere for the remainder of the season and for the new arena next season. So in conclusion something must be done.
I thought it was an article...or something... By the way, Wolfpaper... Attendance is a touchy subject... We only have about 8-10 thousand die-hard fans in Houston. The rest? Half can't afford the prices. The remainder are bandwagon. A few million.
I believe the few sellouts prior to the Lakers game, wasn't all that awesome in comparison. It seems that if Yao isn't awing the fans, they don't get into it. The Shaq vs. Yao matchup was the biggest spark of the last game-and being against the Lakers to boot. The ticket prices are too high for a majority of the fans, and the wealthy folk who buy the high dollar tickets, aren't likely to be as vocal. I've never been to a game, but I watch them on tv every game. I can afford to go, but I just haven't go the bug to go. But I WILL make a game or 2 this season.
The thing is, there are still lots of $10 and $13 seats. If you want half-court, sure you're going to pay a lot, but you're going to pay a lot everywhere for that. Add in free parking, and I think $10 is a bargain!! The seats are really pretty good, as the Compaq Center is well-designed, putting the fans very close to the action, relative to other stadiums.
A must read? well...what do u suggest they do?! LAst night was awesome...and if the rocks keep playing great...they will win back the fans who have left to watch it for free on local tv stations. They show too many games on tv (local). ....Miami has a problem with selling out the house too doesnt it? it looks terrible tonight...empty everywhere...
The real fans are up there in the $10-$13 seats. Most of the lower-level seats are given to employees of employers who purchase Rockets tickets (more expensive, lower-level seats) and give them out as bonuses, rewards, and benefiets to their employees. I live in North Carolina and I visited my girlfriend who resides in Houston and we went to the sold-out Knicks/Rockets game on December 27th and to the Warriors/Rockets game on January 4th, and the fans up in the cheap and ghetto sections were louder then the lower-level seats. It was ridiculous, I was screaming my lungs out and cheering for my team, the Rockets. I know from knowledge that the Hornets made the playoffs when they were in Charlotte a lot of years in a row and they struggled to get 5,000 fans in the regular season games, but they were still a good team. Houston is a good team this year and they're exciting. They've beaten the Lakers at their best. The Spurs, Pacers, 76er's, Sac-Town Kings, and come Tuesday, the Mavericks will be added to that list. Yeah they've lost again alot of sorrier teams but hey, look at alot of the other teams. When a bad team plays a good and well-talked about team ala the Htown Rocks, they tend to play better. But yeah, the fans will come as the Rockets prove to the world throughout the next few years like they proved millions of people last night wrong, that they are a franchise to be reconed with in the NEAR future.
The Rockets should have one special night where the lower level folks switch seats with the uppler level fans. They could then give the rich season ticket holders upstairs more drinks...they'd get drunk and wouldn't care. You would see a rowdy ass crowd for a change. Yeah...that'll happen.
I thought someone else posted before that the $10 and $13 seats are the first to go, and usually aren't available if you go up to the box office the day of the game? Maybe they were only talking about bgi games like the Lakers.
The cheap tickets aren't the problem with me. I just don't have the self control to not spend too much on alcohol or food. Maybe an AA meeting or two might save me some money. But what do I know, I'm drunk.
