I tought it was pretty interesting how he compared himself with Steve Franchise. Norris, starting in place of Francis, had nine points and nine assists. ``I just wanted to come in and make plays,'' Norris said. ``I'm not going to shoot the ball and try to score 20-plus points like Steve. I'm more of a playmaker. I think I did my job tonight. I did my job, we got the win and the coaches were happy.'' [\B]
Everything he said was right. He's not comparing himself to Steve. At least he realizes what he brings to the table.
I read it this way " Steve likes to score 20 plus ppg, and he is not interested in making plays for others. Steve scores big, but we lose and coaches werent happy. "
Good job Moochie. I hope Steve will reallize this and change his game when he is back. Otherwise we need you take over his position, because it is better for the team.
You read everything that way. We'll see how the Rockets do without Steve when they play someone besides a 4-23 road team who just disrupted their lineup with a major trade.
9pt, 9ast...... what about francis 20+pts, 7+asts...... whenever ur teamates are shooting the way they are like this game, Francis will be able to get a lot more assists and yet still 20pts....... geez......
Francis 20+pts, 7+ast, and 5 turnovers. Count how many points were made off those turnovers, subtract that from his 20+ points. By the way, Francis has many games where he has matched assist to turnovers.
how often can a PG play the whole game without 1 TO? not that many games.... maybe once in a while...... I know Kidd has more assists than Francis and yet less TO than Francis...... and I got to agree that Francis TO's number is annoying.... but it is not all his fault is it? I notice that in the game he passes and his teamates just can't grab the ball even though it is a nice pass...... maybe his teamates don't think he will pass to them? those play where he drives in to traffic and lost the ball is of course, unforgivable.....
Steve definitely makes his share of bad decisions and he needs to keep the ball moving in the offense more than he does, but there is no way you can say Steve had 5 turnovers against the Mavs so it was a bad game. Given how restricted his movement was, I thought he played well and fed the ball inside regularly. Of those 5 turnovers, only 2 were stupid plays by Steve that he was responsible. His 2nd turnover was his best pass of the game to EG right under the bucket, which Eddie dropped out of bounds, SF charged with a TO, should have been a dime. His next was a a loose ball he almost stole but stepped out but they gave Dallas a new clock so he was charged with a steal and a TO. And the next TO he stole right back off NVE. And I don't think Steve's game is the main problem or that he needs to be moved to SG. I think it's just that Steve and Cat are too similar to play in an effective backcourt. Steve needs a complimentary player, not a twin, be it a sg or pg. Ast/TO ratio from your pg is not the be all and end all. Look at Andre Miller last night, 9ast 1 TO, but the Clips still lose at home to the Hawks. (probably the worst defensive team in the league) despite taking 16 more field goal attempts.
This is the same Moochie Norris that everyone on this board was calling "the little dribbler" last year, correct?
Do not forget how much how many shoot SF made to get that 20+ pts, and if it was shoot by other peoples, it could became much more. Also when SF play as a PG, you never know if he pass the ball to you (He maybe forced to give Yao some ball now, but how about our other Forwards). But if other people like Moochie or the new guy (first time see him, did great job as a PG, if he could do a little better when he drive to the baskets like SF, we will give other team a lot of headache on D.), you know everyone get a chance to touch the ball. You always need compare a persons roll based on a team, not individually.
"I'm not going to shoot the ball and try to score 20-plus points like Steve. I'm more of a playmaker. I think I did my job tonight. I did my job, we got the win and the coaches were happy.'' Didn't Cato say something along these lines earlier in the year... "I'm not going to shoot the ball and try to score a lot of points like Yao. My job is to go out and play good defense and rebound. I did my job tonight and we won." Pretty much the same thing as what Mooch said. Steve haters are reading too far into this quote.
Well you've heard it before and you've heard it again. Maybe it's a: "Blessing in Disguise" Let's hope, but good job Mooch! keep up the good play.
