I know this is a hard time to think basketball but according to the Sporting News, the Rockets and Norris are agreeing to a 4 year 13 million dollar deal. They say it is close but they have been close for a while now. I don't know, a little over 3 mil a year for a backup is ok or maybe not.

Awesome news Stevie... thanks a lot.

It may seem like a lot, but for Mooch's production, that is a true bargain. He's always out there in the 4th quarter, and you can always count on him to do all the intangibles, like leadership, court vision, clutch play, etc. This team would be in big trouble without him.

Do you remember where on TSN that you saw it? I'm trying to find a link right now...

Found it... doesn't sound as positive unfortunately.

The Rockets are still talking with Norris, who may be close to a four-year, $13 million deal. But he's been "close" for a while, so who knows how long it will be?

Thanks for the scoop Stevie! It's good to hear that Mooch will most likely be a Rocket. I'm not opposed to giving him the 13 million...he's probably the best backup pointguard in the league. The sky's the limit.

Alright. Finally! The price does seem a little steep, but the Mooch is worth it. For some reason, I don't know why since he's a PF, Mo Taylor's injury has made signing Moochie seem even more important than before to me. Also, the Moochie Mix Song was the best :D

DAMN, im glad we look to be getting him back, but If I were Cat, I would be asking to re-negotiate.

Cat is almost the lowest paid guy in the NBA. well at least on the rockets any way

hes making what? something like 4 mill, and a backup is making 3!!
mo makes more cato makes more, steve will be making more(but that i understand) rice makes more

they better give him max when his contract runs out in 5 or so years.
he has to be the bargain of the NBA at this point

    peace

VOR, Mobley's contract isn't quite that low. He's making about $6 million a season, which is still a bargain though.

Y'all. I saw this but don't know how accurate it is. If it is wrong please don't be angry at me. I just pass along information that I hear or see.

StevieRebel - even if it is wrong, it would be SportingNews' fault, not yours. :)

That's the average of his contract.

Its about time for good news of some kind. I'm psyched to hear Moochie may be nearing an agreement to remain a Rocket. The little guy with the big hair is a ball of dynamite when on the court and we needed him back badly IMO. :)

I would like to see Moochie back, but it doesn't appear that the Rockets and he are set on closing a deal, from this article. If Moochie doesn't sign with us we will be forced to get another point guard, and also to get another front court player to replace the loss of Taylor and to compensate for Cato's poor play.

It's good to hear Moochie is going to sign. But still its is a bit over what we should pay him, Fegan does it again! It's all good, tho!

Too much money for a backup PG of limited ability.

Defensively, Moochie was not a huge liability. Offensively, he created some major problems for teams that were not ready for his enthusiastic play. It would be hard to pay him that much, but it would be equally hard to see an asset like that go to another team. Tough choice...

Say what you want about him, but Dan Fegan is a hell of an agent. $13 million dollars for Moochie would make him 3 for 3 this offseason.
