Some big-time ballers showed up to watch the game. LaRon Profit of the Wizards, Mark Karcher and Kevin Lyde of Temple, NBA Co-Rookie of the Year Steve Francis and D.C. native DerMarr Johnson all showed up to watch the D.C. All-Stars take on the Rucker ballers. The DC squad started with Lonnie Harrell, Victor Page, Jerome Williams (Detroit Pistons), Kurt Smith and Moochie Norris (Houston Rockets). Rucker went to battle with Future, I’ll Be Right Back, Black Stallion, High Five and Shane the Dribble Machine. The game began with Future and Moochie Norris going back and forth from behind the three point line. Both hit their first two attempts, but missed on the third. Rucker took an early lead, forcing D.C. to play a streetball style they were unaccustomed to. It was crazy seeing the New York streetball legends take it to the Division 1 ballers and professionals from D.C. At the half, Rucker led by 10 points. Lonnie Hurrell and Moochie Norris brought the D.C. All-Stars back to tie the game. Hurrell has unlimited range and awesome playground moves. Norris is an NBA player that can hang with anybody. He also produced the highlight of the game. Future was taunting him with his crazy handle until Moochie had enough. Moochie picked his pocket, bounced the ball off Future’s head and then took off down the floor and popped a sweet jumper. The rest of the game was a back and forth battle. The score was tied at the end of the fourth quarter and no overtime was played – an appropriate ending to a great game. Both teams battled and gave the crowd what they came to see: highlights, smack and guys rippin’ **** on the floor. ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET
Crisco...do you have some ASCII art of Moochie's expression when bouncing the ball off someone's head...
Please, please, please God, let him do that to Stockton next year. I'm begging. I'll do anything to see it.
I watched Future and I'll Be Right Back play on the court. Those guys have some serious game. Future from what I remember was known for some incredible dribbling skills. I wish Steve would've played in that game. ------------------ ?
I just watched the video of the game on the web site and saw Future's moves on Moochie. Damn that kid's got skills. Moochie stole the ball, bounced it off his head, but didn't hit a jumper like the text said. He just threw it downcourt for a layup. Unless the same exact play happened later of course... lol. The video shows some really high flying dunks. One has a guy taking off from the FT line and slamming it. Unfortunately Future's dribbling exhibition was blocked out by Moochie somewhat. In my opinion, that kind of open court athleticism is what basketball's about. It's what makes the game exciting to watch and makes you stand up in your seat in disbelief at what you just saw. ------------------ ?
If you didn't get a chance to catch it when they first aired it on TNT, I highly recommend their documentary about the Rucker Park championship. They first aired it about a month or so ago, but I'm sure that they will be replaying it soon. In it, they show Future, as well as a little bit of I'll Be Right Back and some of the other guys in the league. When you see the skills these guys have, it just occurs to you how many playground guys could play in the NBA if circumstances had been slightly different. It is a must - watch. Some of what you will see is just awesome, both basketball - wise and from a human interest standpoint. Great stuff. - Slamma ------------------ Millenium blastoff is Imminent!!! Thanx Clutch, I was really glad to see Moochie do that to the "Future". It made me happy to see someone shut his mouth. DID you see Moochie representing the rockets by wearing the shorts? ------------------ President of the Moochie Norris FAN CLUB
Man I am a lot more confident in Moochie Norris after hearing this. I saw that thing on TNT bout Rucka Park and streetball... man some of those guys are 2 good! It says lot bout Mooch's skillz if he can take it to those guys. ------------------ treasurer of the moochie norris fan club
I remember the Harlam Globetrotters. Now they got skilz. In my opinion, that kind of open court athleticism is what basketball's about. It's what makes the game exciting to watch and makes you stand up in your seat in disbelief at what you just saw. That Larry Bird dude was just way too boring.
But then coming from a person who diagrams Flash animations of basketball plays for excitement, and every other phrase contains "two shakes" or "ISO" that sounded even better. Thanks. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean no one else can. BTW, yes, Bird was boring as hell. Jordan and Magic were far more exciting. Sorry, Bob*... ------------------ Just shut up and post
Well said DoD. In my opinion, that kind of verbal fusillade is what cc.net's all about. It's what makes the posting exciting to watch and makes you stand up in your seat in disbelief at what you just read.
Yeah, well, I pretty much stand in disbelief at much of what you say Hey. Hell, sometimes I don't even stand. I just lie down and hope it passes. ------------------ Just shut up and post
Actually when I watched Larry Bird I used to stand up in disbelief at what I just saw!! But having said that I think a lot of excitement comes from flashy plays - especially so if it's a non flashy player, I'll never forget bullard throwing one down against the lakers and roaring at the crowd only to get a T from the official for celebrating.. that's just wrong!! Of course in the end I'll watch the rockets over the globetrotters any day- it's all about the competition! ------------------
