Here is the link : http://www.ohio.com/sports/cavs/docs/015301.htm "The Cavs are taking a look at free-agent point guard Moochie Norris, who has played the past two seasons with Houston. But the Cavs are unlikely to offer Norris, who is searching for a contract in excess of $2 million a year, the type of money he wants. The Rockets have an interest in retaining Norris at less than $2 million annually. He averaged 6.6 points and 3.5 assists last season while making $520,000. Norris is close to Cavs coach John Lucas, whom he works out with regularly in Houston, and with Cavs assistant Keith Smart, who once coached him with Fort Wayne in the CBA."
Yea, and they were interested in Olajuwon, too. What is it with John Lucas? I know he used to play for the Rockets, but does he want to make his team an all ex-Rocket team?
Will they take Shandon Anderson instead of Moochie, say for Chris Mihm? Or both of them AND Danny F. for Mihm or Diop?
Don't underestimate Moochie's relationship to Keith Smart. I spent some time with the Fort Wayne Fury just before Mooch was called up by the Rockets. I was doing research for a thesis paper I was writing about the CBA. Moochie was the star player for the Fury at the time. They also had Antonio Lang, Etdrick Bohannon, Lari Ketner, and Randell Jackson (to name a few part-time NBA players). I honestly believe that Keith Smart had a lot to do with Moochie's development into an NBA caliber PG. I'm not sure just how close they've been since Mooch went to Houston and Keith to Cleveland, but I'd bet they have a close enough relationship that Moochie wouldn't hesitate to come play for him if the Rockets don't make him a fair offer.
Aren't Mooch and Steve friends from back East that played together on the playgrounds? Besides the money, that would weigh heavy in our favor...
If he wants to be in Cleveland, wish him well and him and his pimp Fegan can be out of Houston. The Rockets will be fine without Moochie, the real question is will Moochie be fine without the Rockets. If its all about money and getting by on 1.5 million or so a year for a player a little over a year removed from the CBA is too rough then go to Cleveland and read about the Rockets. With Anderson gone his minutes are cut in Houston anyway and we make do just fine.
Moochie is still going to be a Rocket. I mean who else is going to backup Steve Francis at PointGuard. I'm sure Moochie feels good with the Rockets and those not think about playing ball some where else.
