Love turning my eight yr old son on to classic rock n roll albums/songs.

Today was Montrose's first album "Montrose" (1973)

Watching his face light up hearing these awesome songs is just priceless!!!!!!

    "Space Station #5"
    "make it last"
    "rock candy"
    "bad motor scooter"
    "rock the nation"
    "I don't want it"
    "good rockin' tonight"
    "one thing on my mind"

Unfortunately this board doesn't really like/appreciate rock-n-roll, so this is falling mostly on deaf ears (I've learned this over 14 years, never fails). That's pretty cool that your son recognizes great songs.

True Freak, but we can still rep the music when we get the chance.

Good stuff shark, excellent album. So many bands down the line were influenced by those Montrose albums, if you want the boy to have a great grounding in down and dirty hard rock, you are on the right track.

I tried to do the same thing with my daughter, but she ended up liking country better...she knows older hard rock and metal but it isn't her favorite music. :(

    Lord! Oh, yeah.
When you need a friend through thick and thin
Don't look to those above you.
When you're down and out, ain't no doubt
    Nobody wants you.

    But you're rock candy baby
    Hard, sweet and sticky.
    Rock candy baby
    Hard, sweet and sticky.

When you're seventeen reachin' for your dreams
Don't let no one reach it for you.
    Pull up your pants,
    Stretch out take a chance.
If it can be done, you can do it.

I thought this would be a gay pride parade thread.

I turn him on to all different types of music but he loves a good guitar riff. First riff I let him listen to (back when he was about two) was the beginning of "can't you hear me knocking" by the Stones. He was hooked instantly!!!

Nice job. Just because the BMOFs (Bad Music Only Fans) dominate the board, and this world, don't think folks aren't appreciative of some sweet classic rock and roll.

Sammy has done a lot of good stuff, but tell your kid to tap the brakes before he gets where he can't drive 55.

That first Montrose album might be one of the best hard rock records ever made. I think Iron Maiden has covered half of it over the years.
