I just caught the tail end of an ad on TV that said November 2nd...and had the Monsters Inc characters on it.

    Did they announce a sequal?

I don't think so. It would be common knowledge if they did.

On the other hand, let's hope pixar doesn't try and milk the straight to DVD market with low quality sequels like everyone else. If anything happens in November, that's what it will be.

Toy Story 2 was going to be a straight to DVD market movie, then the execs at Disney saw it and thought it was too good to do that.

I thought it was the other way around. Disney wanted to do a Direct-to-DVD sequel until Pixar convinced them to make it a theatrical production.

There were direct-to-DVD sequels in the pipeline at Disney, including Toy Story 3, but when Disney bought Pixar, Lassiter halted them. There will still be a Toy Story 3, I believe, but it will likely shoot for theatrical.

I haven't heard anything about a Monsters Inc. 2, certainly not by November.

I loved watching the behind the scenes stuff from The Incredibles. Their offices look like a great, creative place to work. I haven't seen Cars yet but am hoping to do so soon.

Lion King 2 is also an exception but that was a long time ago. Nowadays, straight to DVD sequels are nothing more than sorry quality cash cows for the movie studios. Today, Pixar is the only company that (I think) would produce a high quality straight to DVD movie.

Loved the trailer. More hyped about this than any trailers I've seen for Cars.

-and nothing on IMDB about a sequel. So that's probably a big no. I doubt Pixar would sacfrice the sanctity of their work for a few extra dollars in the bank. And if they did make a direct to DVD sequel they would probably put as much effort into it as a theatrical film.

Pixar is owned by Disney now, so that may soon change.

Yes but Lassiter runs the animation arm of Disney; he's got creative control over there so I'm thinkin (and hoping) that Pixar rubs off on Disney and not the other way around.

I thought Pixar hated doing sequels....but an announcement like that would raise Disney's stock even higher during this period.

had you been before? where'd you stay?

The Stitch attraction used to be called "Alien Encounter." Instead of little Stitch being transported in, it was this winged monster alien. Pretty creepy effect.

we typically go in October...heading there this October.

We are thinking about going over Thanksgiving, heard it was the slowest time for them.

it's not. it's among the busiest times. any holiday is super-busy for them. christmas is insane. November used to be a lot easier, before Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party started up. But that's all the time in November..the park is decorated for Christmas. Epcot also has a Food & Wine Festival that month that draws out the locals, big time. But Thanksgiving week is very, very crowded.

I recommend going anytime from about October 10 on through the week before Thanksgiving, if possible. If you're booking for October, avoid the weekend where there's the big PGA event in Orlando. It's amazing how crowded it gets in relation to that.

I thought Disney didn't renew their contract with Pixar because Pixar was demanding too much money? That changed? If Disney owns Pixar now, does that mean there might be an Incredibles sequel after all?
