Monroe sees the division break down like this:
    1. Spurs
    2. Mavs
    3. Wolves
    4. Jazz
    5. Grizz
    6. Rockets
    7. Nuggets

He has Eddie as our starting SF also.

And he's getting paid to come up with stuff like this.

I think, the first two are locks, but of the 3 teams he has ranked ahead of us, I don't see any starters I would rather have on our team (for the next 2-3 years) other than Garnett or Gasol.

Good call, I'm thinking the same thing. And why do these "professional" sports writers keep saying Griffin is a SF?

This guy is nuts to put the Grizz in front of the Rockets. The division will look like this:

    1. Dallas
    2. San Antonio
    3. Houston
    4. Minnesota
    5. Utah
    6. Memphis
    7. Denver

And that's cuz I honestly think the Rockets have the potential to be a lot better than the Spurs. I'm just givin SA the benefit of the doubt.

I still don't get this SA thing. The Mavs should be better than them and we will be racing SA for second.

I was thinking the same thing. What do the Spurs really have other than Duncan and Parker? Not enough to hang with the fire power of Dallas. The Mavs should be 1 and the Rockets could go as high as 2 and as low as 4.

    Below the Grizz:confused:

I think having firepower is overated slightly. Look at the players the Blazers had in years past. The Spurs won the series last year 3-1.

Maybe its because the Spurs have the division title with Duncan and little else for the last few years- maybe it is because they have the mavs number......... maybe it is because the Rockets have been injured......... Stop hating........ it makes you look like you don't know much. It is like me saying I don't understand why people are picking the lakers because they have kobe and a hurt shaq and little else..........

My guess is that the Spurs have something called defense... it's a foreign concept in Dallas. The Spurs have won the division and the one playoff series between the two teams in the last two years. Parker will be better, Ginobili will be an upgrade, and Willis is probably the best inside insurance they've had for Robinson. That's improving on a team that was already better than Dallas. There's no reason to think it will change.

I actually made a bet supporting this theory with a couple of other members yesterday. My inspiration was your new signature. That has to hurt.

We finish better than sixth. Preseason rankings dont mean a thing. Go Rocks, prove 'em wrong.

HAHA! Grizzlies over the Rockets? The Grizzlies had a worse record than the Rockets last season! I guess they're thinking is that the drafting of Drew Gooden is better than Ming, Nachbar, healthy Francis, healthy Taylor, healthy Rice. What the hell is this guy thinking? I'm not pissed that this moron ranked the Grizz ahead the Rockets, I could care less. What I'm pissed about is this pathetic, sad excuse for an NBA analyst gets to cover basketball games for a living and I don't! Codell, these are the same people that say Olajuwon doesn't belong in Russell's class. :p :D

EDIT: I just read his NBA "preview", and the idiot actually rated the Rockets offseason an A, and the Grizzlies a B+. So let's see, the Rockets had more injuries than the Grizz last season, a better record last season, and a better offseason, but they're going to be worse? Maybe it's Jerry West. That's the only way I can explain it.

But seriously, when you think about it, what kind of firepower did the Blazers really have?

    Davis: a good role player
    Smith: one-trick pony
Pippen: past prime, nothing more than a role player now.
    Sabonis: serviceable center
    Kemp: past-prime ******
Stoudamire: could barely even be called a star, much less a superstar
    Wells: borderline star
Wallace: blazers best scorer and best player, has never averaged more than 19 points per game, and is arguably not even one of the twenty best players in the league.

By firepower, I assume we're meaning scoring ability. I think the Blazers did so well a couple years back because they had a well-rounded team of good defensive players, good bench players, good rebounders, 3-point shooters, penetrators, passers, etc. Not because they were some scoring machine like the Kings or Mavs.

I think they are giving Jerry West too much credit for what he can do with this team. Jason Williams will never lead his team to great heights. Too much of a spaz. Sidney Lowe? Please. The Grizz are deep on the front line, but have absolutely no one to coach or run this team.

Dont start up with the whole Hakeem/Russell thing now. We alll made a pact to put that thread on the back pages. Just for the record, I always said Olajuwon and Russell are in the same class and never agreed with the media's point of view in the regard. :p

I think of firepower as more than just scoring. I also think of depth. And the Blazers, before all their players went to crud, were deep. Firepower is a very relative term depending on how you are applying it.

Anyway, my point was, just cause a team looks like they have more firepower on paper, doesnt mean they are a better team. Thats why I didnt agree with the whole Spurs V. Mav arguement that was presented. :D

Your guess may be right but they only finished one game ahead of Dallas last year and that's with LaFrentz and Van Exel only playing 27 games with the Mavs. I full season together could make a big difference.

Monroe is an idot. He ranked us like 20th last year before the season started. People started sending hate mails and he actually replied to mine. All he said is that "We will see" crap. After the Rocks came out on a fast start, he even said he was wrong. I didnt even bother reading what he said after we started tanking.
