I can just see you sitting there shaking... desperatley hoping one of the Bears will ruin Matt Leinart's career.
Yeah, he threw two whole touchdown passes... HOF here he comes!!! David Carr and Chris Simms, guys you've spent years bashing, never did that...
Cat, considering what Gradkowski is doing in Tampa, you really need to stop defending simms. he has already lost his starting spot when he comes back. I thought simms turned the corner last season, but it isn't happening.
that was uncalled for, I merely pointed out that you must be squirming in your seat after all the **** you talked about Leinart. Carr can have the best season of his career and the texans will still be in the running for a top 5 pick. and Simms was brought back down to earth this season. Literally. I was wrong about him all those years though, he does have the heart to win games, just not other important organs.
Based on what, two bad games? Simms had an outstanding third season. He came in and led his team to a division championship, led by several fourth quarter rallies and excellent play in clutch situations in general. He had two bad games (against good defenses and with no running game or offensive line either) and all of a sudden he hasn't turned the corner and it's "not happening"? I don't see how you can give Carr excuses (to quote you from earlier today, "if you can't run, totally inept, you can't pass.") and in the same breath criticize Simms and act as if he's finished. Simms had a better season last year than any Carr has had. Now he has two awful games and he's finished? There are a whole lot of quarterbacks in this league you could write off if two bad games is the standard for ending a career.
What **** did I talk about Leinart? I'd like some evidence, if you could. You wouldn't dare be talking out your ass, could you? That would never happen.
But there's three problems. First of all, Cadillac Williams is healthy (he nursed back spasms the first two games) and running the ball better. Second, the New Orleans and Cincinnati defenses aren't nearly as talented as those in Baltimore and Atlanta. And finally, two games is an absurdly small sample. If Gradowski continues to play well, he'll probably keep the job. Doesn't mean Simms' career is over. He'll move on to the next opportunity, like a lot of quarterbacks do.
my mistake, surely You'd NEVER take an opposing side of a moronic argument just for the sake of arguing.
Bucs' Williams runs away with ROY award NFL.com wire reports NEW YORK (Jan. 4, 2006) -- Carnell Williams, appropriately enough, ran away with The Associated Press NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award. The Tampa Bay running back nicknamed "Cadillac" was the sleek, fast and powerful model the Buccaneers needed to spark their offense. He became a starter immediately, rushed for 1,178 yards and six touchdowns, and was the catalyst in the Buccaneers' turnaround from also-ran to NFC South champion. Williams drew 47 votes from a nationwide panel of 50 sports writers and broadcasters who cover the NFL. His running mate at Auburn, Ronnie Brown of the Dolphins, received one vote, as did tight end Heath Miller of Pittsburgh and offensive lineman Logan Mankins of New England.
and you really know how to talk about the game why don't we just lock the fkin thread already. I was hoping maybe people would want to talk about the game and not play sissy slap fight on the bbs.
Anthony Thomas won rookie of the year too. How's he doing right now? Cadillac is a good back, when healthy. But he's not immune to having poor games, especially when he's hurt, which he admittedly was in the first two weeks of this season.
this is the first time i've watched the bears. where is this vaunted D i've heard about? i have a hard time believing they played D like this for 5 weeks and held everyone to like no points. granted they played 4 crappy teams and an alexander-less seahawks, but still. or i have a hard time believing they are playing like they did for 5 weeks and 1-4 arizona has figured it all out. those first 2 TD's were weak for a good defense and rex grossman seemingly has more turnovers han completions. i figured the bears weren't as good as they seemed, but i didn't think they were this much of a fraud. i wanted to see them like 10-0 or something playing some big games. they're one of the few good teams UT players are on.
Lots of excellent teams, especially when they're young, have games where they believe their own hype and overlook an opponent. They're not necessarily frauds yet. But I'm as surprised as you are. The Bears defensive line is absolutely getting outplayed by the Cardinals offensive line, a unit that's been one of the worst in the league for much of this season.
