    Mother opens up after 5-month-old son contracted COVID from a vaccinated family member

    COVID-19 cases in children and teens have increased significantly in recent weeks. On Tuesday, the American Academy of Pediatrics reported an 84% jump in cases, with 72,000 new cases reported in the United States last week.

    Children are not immune to severe illness and death.

    Sad but most people already know you can catch and pass it on while being vaccinated.

    Of course but the mom thought vaccinated people were safe
    Apparently it’s not true
    So kids are not discussed here at all because of the political tribalism
    So the free thinkers need to be more vocal here instead of the tribalist or cable news addicts

    Kids can get really sick but it still happens at a pretty low rate. It's still not something we have to panic over. Obviously it sucks for this child and parent.

    The new variant is causing new data points
    As mentioned by scientists it’s affecting young people now and the vaccines are not that affective
    Especially the the J and J

    the report shows an increase of 84%

    Comparing this variant to the original is like comparing Jalen Green to Trevor Ariza

    My doctor got the vaccine while pregnant with her first child. So yeah, I think she was onboard with vaccines.

    my Dr recommends everyone get vaccinated AND continue to wear a mask in public AND avoid large crowds or gatherings.

    she’s seeing more cases in her office than ever with 85% or more being unvaccinated. Symptoms and recovery times are much lower on the vaccinated according to her. She’s alarmed by the number of younger people affected especially with school starting up soon.

    Israel is giving booster shots now but nobody likes that country in this ‘section’
    Smart is smart, data is data
    AI takeover is our only hope

    Israel is in way better shape than America

    I have with multiple doctors. The medical community is overwhelmingly in favor of getting vaccinated.

    Where is the news here?

    We know delta has more breakthrough infections, and has a high enough viral load to spread by vaccinated people. It's why the CDC changed guidance to encourage vaccinated people to wear masks in covid hotspots.

    We know kids can get and spread it. It's why the CDC recommends masking in schools and why so many people are pissed at Abbott, DeSantis, and other governors who are banning them.

    The people in the US who fawn over Israel the most are also the ones least likely to get vaccinated and least likely to wear masks.

    It's weird when people use Israel as an example for us to follow. I've been to Israel. The girls are crazy hot, but I would never choose to live there.

    I understand that young people are getting infected but infants are getting infected at a pretty low rate. Not saying you shouldn't take precautions with your kid, but you should go panic either. Look at the demographic data in Texas.

    That being said I'm worried about schools opening up. All the kids will give it to each other and in turn give it to their relatives. The numbers are going to skyrocket especially in Texas where schools are prohibited from mandating masks.

    Well, the political right thing to do in TX is to not allow local government and ISD to make their own decision on how best to protect kids that can't yet be vaccinated.

    F the Texas conservatives. They have proven time and time again, they don't give a **** about kids through school funding, risking their live, etc. It's weird how they wanted to mandate the HPV vaccine but not the covid vaccine. WTF

    • Rural counties have consistently lagged behind the state’s fully vaccinated rate.
