Only if this would have happened.... also...Notice who is at Number 1 http://espn.go.com/nba/s/2001/0520/1202015.html
Wow....they were WAY off! However it made alot of sense back then, for a while, Eddie was the prize of that draft
This is all moot. I actually prefer the bunk trade for Griffin. Along with the SF injury, it got us Yao. Better than anyone in that draft. Would you rather have Gasol and win that year? We would have had no chance for Ming if Gasol had improved our team.
Wow the so called "experts" have a their hands full. Their evaluation of talent was WAY off. But to their credit, no one really knows how the cards will fall on draft day...including NBA franchises. DaSagana Diop at 4, please! He's a bust if I've ever seen one. Woods at 11, Bradley at 12, and Gasol at 13 is completely off. It's funny how talented guys like Tinsley, Prince, and Randolph were completely under-evaluated.
He's a great athlete and defender, very raw on the offensive end. He dominated college; junior college, that is. He plays for the Cavs now. Well, no, rather he's on the Cavs' roster. He doesn't play very much.
Part of that is also that the article was written before player workouts. Even this year, they've served to shake up mock draft orders. When people got to look at players like Pau up close, their stock can change rapidly. Evan
This is actually the first of 3 mock drafts. I'd like to see the subsequent mock drafts and how close they came to the actual one.
As we know, Gasol was taken before the Rockets first pick. But we actually could have taken Richard Jefferson, Zach Randolph, and Gilbert Arenas that year.
