I just don't see it happening. One reason for this is that if you look at his numbers, they are solid and it would be pretty difficult to get a 2 that was better than him. Also, remember that last year when the Rockets won the draft, Francis said flat out that they do no need a point guard, and that was one of the main reasons that he forced the trade from Vancouver, because Bibby was there. Besides, don't forget that Mobley and Francis are best friends. I can, however, see us moving or trying to move Cato, Taylor, Griffin, and Rice. ESPN Insider said today to not be surprised if the Rockets entertain the idea of swapping Rice for Glenn Robinson. Maybe we could work out some sort of 3 way deal that would land us Gasol and maybe Wright.
Gasol isn't going anywhere. I'd be glad to trade for him, fine, try; he's the only keeper on that team. Yao-Gasol would dominate in two years. I'd gladly take Jwil and Gasol for Steve and Eddie.
I think that he WILL be traded. He and Francis is almost the same player and the rocket need a better point guard. Since Francis will not be traded, it is more likely that Mobley will.
rice is our wild card. his expiring contract will attract a lot of great offers. glen robinson is not one of them.
Whoa, J-Will and Gasol for Steve and Eddie?? I'm not sure if I'd do J-Will/Gasol for Steve alone. Plus I'm sure the Rockets could get more for Eddie, especially considering the rumor that the Hawks offered Abdur-Rahim straight up for Eddie, which the Rockets turned down.
Actually, not only do I think that Mobley will be a Rocket next year, I hope he is. I think that he takes too much undeserved negativity. He plays hard every night, and even began passing mor this year, especially later in the season, in trying to get Yao more involved. Everyone throw out some trade possibilities that you either hope for or have heard about involving Griffin, Cato, Taylor, and Rice.
Mobley should be traded. He is a me first type player. There is a reason that top teams like Dallas, Sacramento and San Antonio all have a lot international players. Individually they may not be the most talented, but they play like a team. Mobley is talented, but his attitude may hurt Rox in a long run.
Had Cat had a smaller ego, I would be ok with him given his defense capability. But with his current shooting and defense capability, he simply doesn't deserve that a big ego he had in himself. The truth is that he is perfect if he is a backup shooting guard. Just take a look at those playoff teams, and let's talk about the players by position. Ask yourself the following questions: 1. Of the sixteen teams, given the same star treatmen that CAT has been receiving, whom do you think CAT is really better than? I cannot name one. But I can definitely name some without any start treatments like CAT gets, but performs much better. 2. We can ask the same question to Francis too. Francis's been receiving the same star treatment as Kobe, T-Mac, AI, etc., but is playing at definitey a less level. I am not saying he is not good. But neither o the three teams would like to trake any of them for him. When Les said this team has the most talents, I just laughed. It really depends on how you define talents and how you price your players. If you price Moochie higher than Bobby Jackson, or Jim Jackson, or Manu, or Steve Jackson, or any of the guards in the league, you should know you have a problem there.
choujie, I agree. Mobley has talent, but he is hurting us more than he is helping. Like above I would love to have Gasol even more than having Brand but would not trade Francis for him.
I also think that he should be traded for both the rocket and himself. Between him and Steve, I see Steve has adjusted his game more and has shown more willingness to adjust. It is obvious that he did not play a good team basketball this year. Therefore, he is not fitting the center-oriented game, if that is the plan for the future of the rocket. However, he is a good iso player and it is not fair to keep him as 6th man assuming that steve need to move to SG position.
Mobley needs to go. He's a good player, but a terrible fit on this team. He's doesn't pass the ball, and when he does it ain't pretty. His defense is inconsistent(although I'll give him more props than Steve for at least trying). His 3-point shooting is streaky. And frankly, his attitude sucks. He was one of the idiots talking smack after one of the Dallas blowouts and I hate how he considers himself a member of the "Big 3" when he should be deferring to Yao and Steve. I don't see them moving Mobley for another 2-guard. He'll likely be involved in a trade(possibly along with Griffin) for a frontcourt player. And so what if they end up replacing him with a less-talented guard(either point or shooting depending on what happens with Steve)? The important thing is how the team plays as a whole, and we've seen for four years now what they can do with Cat logging heavy minutes.
If Mobley is traded, you will see francis demanding a trade first thing. They aren't just best friends, they are like brothers. and no matter how selfish it sounds and may be, Francis would put Mobley ahead of the team.
their friendship sureley has cooled in the last year. otherwise francis wouldnt be out campaigning for his "friends" job. how do yall think mobley feels everytime he hears steve say "i would love to play SG"?
Amen to that, I hope Les does not fall for him. I am hoping we can package Rice with Griffin and Mobley for somebody like Brand or Gasol.
Thats a good question, maybe Cat wants to move to the bench, can anyone say, Sixth man of the Year? Or maybe the team has already said, "Look we want to Steve to the SG, We are giving you your choice, either A. Move to the Bench B. or we can try and trade you to a team that you can thrive with" could be how it went?
