    From sportsradio610am:

Mobley to undergo arthroscopic surgery on both ankles and to be down for 6 weeks. Should be ready in time for training camp.

    Get well soon Cat!!!

How will that affect any possible dealing of Cat?

    (I wonder which 2 'broke Cat's ankles'?)

Should he fully recover, his trade value will be virtually unaffected, assuming there's nothing potentially chronic in his condition...However, it is extremely unlikely that any other team will trade for a guy sitting out over a month due to 2 surgeries...I think we can safely postpone any potential Mobley trade rumours, probably at least until training camp, more likely longer...

As usual, 610 is reading from the morning Chron again:

    Mobley to have ankles scoped

Rockets guard Cuttino Mobley will have arthroscopic surgery on both ankles today to clean up damage done by frequent sprains the past two seasons.

Mobley, 27, had considered the offseason surgeries throughout this past season to treat the bone spurs and scar tissue that have built up.

"We had talked about it all year," Rockets trainer Keith Jones said. "We thought it was probably something we were going to do. But after we did the exit physicals with all the players, Dr. (Walter) Lowe and Dr. (Kevin) Varner looked at the MRI and X-rays and said he would greatly benefit from having the ankles scoped. He had sprained both ankles so many times, he really has a lot of scar tissue and loose bone spurs. This will greatly improve how he feels."

Mobley will be held out of offseason workouts for approximately six weeks.

Rockets guard/forward Juaquin Hawkins has had arthroscopic elbow surgery since the season ended.

6 weeks? Ah, just in time for July 1st when teams can start trading players. ;)

This is the reason why Cat is my favorite Rocket despite his bone headed plays and passes. The guy has been playing on bad wheels for the last two seasons, led the league in minutes, took less money to be in Houston, and left it all on the court every night. If the rest of the team played with as much heart as Cat does, we would still be playing right now.

I thought July 1st was the beggining of the free agency period. Can't we trade him on draft night, or just about anytime after the season ends?

You could tell he was hurting. What's amazing is how he turned up his D during the second half. You've gotta give the Cat his due, even if you hope to package him with Griffin and/or Cato for a PF who's last name begins with a "B" and a pure shooter younger than the Great Pyramid.

Hope you recover soon and completely, Cat, and if you stay on the team have your best year next season. OK?? And get potty trained. I just know you can "get it'.

I believe a healed CAT will be as good as he is on defense this season with the shot he had last season..... that will give us a good SG next season as long as he plays the role player position.... as in slide him into the 3rd scoring option....when Ming and Francis is out of sync....

I hope, but doubt he'll accept this role. He better heal up quick so he can pack his bags...

This will help Cuttino's speed and jumping ability, not that he already has these. Thanks for the news, codell.

I wouldn't have thought you could have a scope on both ankles at once? I hope he uses a local this time. It's ok to admit it hurts Cuttino.

He could have quit a long time ago, but he never gave up. He may have little court sense, but he most definitly has heart.

Its interesting that he is getting this surgery this early. I mean, if he really wanted to take himself out of the trading block, he could've waited until around July to have surgery, thus limiting his trade value. It could be one of three things:

He knows he is gone, and he just wants to get healthy and improve his game in the offseason for his new team.

The Rocks have told him he is staying, and he wansts to get healthy and improve his game in the offseason for the Rocket, maybe working more on set up shooting.

He just wants to get better so he can start playing again soon and work on his game regardless of the situation. This would be the bravest move, since he knows he would be part of so much speculation in trades and not knowing where he would end up, yet he doesnt delay his surgeries and just makes it a win win situation for everyone.

Either one of these scenarios are possible, but its just a great move by the Cat. Get better Cat

LOL. Doesn't he understand vacation time and sick leave should be separated? Needs some work ethic lessons from Shaq.
