Raptors give Eisley tour By Craig Daniels MONTREAL -- The Raptors are free-agent shopping again. After bringing Rashard Lewis into Toronto last week, the Raptors yesterday gave point guard Howard Eisley, 27, and his wife the grand tour of the Air Canada Centre and city sights. The 6-foot-2 Eisley averaged 25 minutes, 8.6 points per game, and 4.2 assists last season for the Utah Jazz. The team remains interested in Lewis, 20, who also is being chased by the Chicago Bulls and the team he played for last season, the Seattle SuperSonics. But the Raptors should have enough cap room to sign both -- if both can be persuaded to sign. Mobley must have told them he was re-signing with the Rockets and wasn't interested. http://www.canoe.ca/TorontoSports/ts.ts-07-18-0079.html ------------------ "Get up, stand up. man i hope so i don't want to see Mobley go [This message has been edited by wgray (edited July 18, 2000).]
Eisley is a true PG and Lewis is a 3....Mobley plays 2. I don't think this has much bearing on whether Mobley stays or goes. ------------------ HOOP-T ------------------
There's no way they could afford all three, and it's also unlikely that the Raptors would continually bring in free agents and talk contracts with them if they were set on giving Mobley all their money. ------------------ Member of the pro-Collier/Langhi movement. IN RUDY WE TRUST!!
I do, they only have so much money to spend. They need a point guard more than they need a 2 guard IMO. ------------------ "Get up, stand up. Stand up for your right"-Bob Marley
Love your thoughts Boob, but all I can say is CUT TINO Surely the raptors can do better the Eisley if they work a sign and trade for McGrady. ------------------ Stuff BBS, the Rockets and you guys It's all Clippers these days, come join the bandwagon and visit http://www.ClippersCity.net
Hoop, Eisley could play the point, Carter SG and Lewis SF. THat would be great for the Rox, so maybe they wouldn't need Cat. ------------------
I realize that money is an issue and the Raptors cannot afford all three, but Lewis has stated he is pretty sure about staying in Seattle. Even if he didn't, he has said in the past he would want to play at home in Houston. So, in my estimations, Rashard won't be in Toronto anyway. I just don't think this article has much to do with Mobes staying or going. It doesn't make me feel better about our chances of keeping him anyway. I am trying to stay positive..... ------------------ HOOP-T ------------------ [This message has been edited by HOOP-T (edited July 19, 2000).]
This is good news, but doesn't confirm anything. However, why would the Raps want a natural shooting guard? I would think that their first priority would be to sign a pure pg, such as an Eisley, Jackson or AJ. Lol, I heard the funniest story last night that if Alvin Williams performs well in their Summer League and impresses Lenny, he may be the team's PG! Along with Mugsey, and Christie playing some as well. Alvin did show some flashes of being able to run a team, but if Toronto expects to be a serious contender, they need a very good PG, especially with TMac gone. Only Houston could ever dream of making it to the Conference finals with their starting PG being Matt Maloney. Azim da Dream ------------------ We don't live for the destination. I still believe Popeye. This media stuff is just disinformation to keep the Rockets out of trouble. ------------------ the more I know, the more I know I don't know...
