If Cuttino Does decide to go to Toronto, then Toronto will not have the money to sign Rashard Lewis. That means he will either sign with Seattle or Houston ( as sources have claimed he holds no grudge against the Rockets, loves their style of play and wants to come home ) I feel that if Cuttino leaves and we sign Rashard or Toronto signs Cuttino and Rashard signs a one year deal with seattle instead of a 4 or 5 year deal with Toronto.... Either way, Cuttino's leaving helps us get Rashard. I've always felt Shandon was considerably better and should continue to start. I would rather have Rashard any day than Cuttino. This being based on ability, potential and the fact that Shandon is a shooting guard, not a small forward. Next years line-up of
    Center : Hakeem / Cato
    Forward: K.Thomas / Collier
    Forward: R.Lewis / Walt / Langli
    Guard : S.Ander / S.Franc
    Guard : S.Franc / Moocher!

Thats a pretty good lineup. And we will have some monster cap room next year to go after Webber as well as a big man loaded draft.

So Question: Who would you rather have Cuttino or Rashard?

I would undoubtedly rather have Rashard for the simple fact that you pointed out, we already have a good starting SG and he should be here for a while. If we are going to pay someone big buck sin the long run, I much rather prefer it be a starting player.

On a side note, if we are going to be dreamcsting here, I also would like to see Kelvin Cato and some of the trade exception if necessary plus maybe a Bullard or Carlso Rogers to move on over to Chicago for MArcus FIzer and we will take on Hershey Hawkins contract if possible. That would make the lineup:

    C: HAkeem/Collier
    PF: Fizer/KT/Collier
    SF: Rashard/Walt/Langhi
    SG: Shandon/Hawkins/Steve
    PG: Steve/Moochie

That team would be really good, as in maybe make the 7 or 8 seed good IMO. Then the next offseason, package all our picks together (we should have somewhere between 2-4 middle first round picks--package them all together) to move up to a top 5 spot to get a center. Also, could use any extra money to go after a FA role player at that point, which would be all that we would need.

Ahhh, I love to dreamcast. That would be sweet though.

MOBLEY LEAVING IS A SEPERATE ISSUE.

IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH RASHARD.

EVEN IF MOBLEY LEAVES, THE ROCKETS WILL STILL NOT BE ABLE TO SIGN RASHARD THIS YEAR.

rashard over mobley anyday, mobley is a dime a dozen. rashard will be a valuable commodity that will help us more in the long run than cuttino.and he is a houston native and he will probably get alot of poeple to vote to keep the rockets here in his hometown.

I'd much rather have Rashard than Mobley. And since Mobley is "leaning towards Toronto", then somehow getting Rashard would more than make-up for Mobley's loss. Clutch did say that the Rox have been working hard on getting Rashard.

Lewis would be great. If Mobley signs in Toronto, maybe the dominoes will fall our way. Lewis would killl a few birds w/ one stone. Still i want to keep Mobley, but if we have to lose to gain , i will.

If we can't keep Mobley with our offer how are we going to lure Lewis away from Seattle? Rockets aren't going to sign anyone this year due to the salary cap.

    Jay,

That really does sound like a pretty good deal from our standpoint. Hawkins would come in handy this year if Cat leaves, and I believe he will be a free agent next year. Collier can play center (yes, I know he plays more like a power forward), and that would leave the starting power forward position open for Fizer.

Would the Bulls really do something like that though? They'd be taking on a pretty big salary. But if they don't really get any of the big free agents, maybe they'll decide they'd like to have a center (and a Tim Floyd guy at that).

The "rumor" has it that the Blazers are asking for both FIzer and Crawford for Jermaine Oneal (and his contract is more than Cato's, if Im correct), so I dont see why teh Bulls would pass this up. Plus, wed be taking Hershey Hawkins contract off their hands (for the last year) and we have a trade exception to work with---not that it would really matter as CHicago cant seem to attract any good FA's anyways.

The reason why I think the Bulls might not do that deal is getting Cato might prohibit them from getting a center in next years draft. I've heard from many Bulls fans that Jerry Krause will be rebuilding through the draft and the Bulls will tank yet another season to get another high lottery pick. And there will be many better center prospects then Cato in next years draft.

I also think the Bulls can get a better deal then Cato.

The Rockets select...Mirsad Turkcan from Turkey...noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

It's good to see that Rudy and CD admit their mistake and that Rashard holds no grudge. I would love to see Rashard in a Rockets uniform even if that means bye bye Cuttino.

Next time the Rockets front office needs to remember to lay off the Miller Lite's before the draft. Now we are stuck with Rudy's 3 kids with a 4th one in Croshere coming our way. I hope Croshere resigns in Indiana. Please resign with Indiana.

I would rather have Rashard, cause we already have Shandon at SG, and we need a SF. Rashard is going to be great, and has way more upside than Cuttino.

I don't think Mobley and Lewis are mutually exclusive events. Mobley does impact what happens to Lewis. It all trickles down from the top and as players sign it has a great deal of impact on where other players go. Lewis Loves Houston. I think that is a given. It's not impossible that he signs with us on that reason alone. If its down to Seattle and Houstoh we've got a shot. The position of SF is open. He starts. He loves it here. Seems perfect to me. Seems possible. No reason why it can't happen.

Other than he's restricted and covered up until $4.1 M, and the Rockets don't have that sort of cap space.

Rashard Lewis over Cuttino easily. Even if the Rockets have to wait one yr to get Lewis due to Seattle's restricted FA, its still ok. Its not like this team is going to win a championship this coming season so waiting one yr for your future SF is no big deal. Replacing someone like Cat should not be too much of a problem. The Rockets can find an instant offense player off the bench at some point. Also, this will allow Shandon to get more PT and open the roster for a player like Rashard.

I would love to have Rashard too, but from what I hear he won't fit under the cap. So isn't this kinda pointless?
