Don't know how valid this is but a buddy of mine heard Ric Bucher on ESPN radio last night and Bucher was quoted as saying that Orlando and SA were in talks regarding some type of a sign-and-trade arrangement involving Turkgolu and Mobley among others... I don't have any other details on this...but that would suck to have Mobley in SA... Anybody else hear Bucher last night and can confirm this?
Shouldn't be long before all the hot heads on this board blast you for posting that in this forum.....
I've been around here long enough to know what is/isn't appropriate to post in this forum... This is appropriate...
That would make more sense if SAS were sure they'd lose or not match on Ginobili. Last I heard, they still planned to keep him. Not sure if it's a smart call by Orlando, unless they're trying to move Steve to the two and use Nelson as their point. Evan
I thought if Mobley was the only player involved, he could be traded inside the 90 days or whatever. But not if he's with another player. We need a Batman-like signal we can turn on to call in aelliot or GATER.
Yeah, I usually just state my gut feeling and hope that aelliott or GATER or NIKEstrad come in and confirm it. Most of the time, I'm wrong, though . I'm wondering why they would get Mobley if they re-sign Ginobili, though...a bit strange.
If this were true...wouldn't it improve our chances of signing Brent Barry? It would seem to me that Mobley would fill that role well in SA...even if Ginobili returns...
Maybe it means we have got Barry. I think they wanted Barry to join them to add some 3pt shooting. Maybe they know he has agreed to another team (Rockets) and want to get another shooter there. Who knows.
how bout we offer magic our TE for mobley and make mobley our pg? he did good when he was pg for barkley and olajuwon... ok, kidding aside and of to a more serious thing, i wish mobley would go to a winning team and not to another rebuilding team. he was with the rockets when we were rebuilding and when we are on our way to the top, we shipped him out to reach an even higher goal. which kinda sucked for him coz he was shipped out to another rebuilding team. he deserves to be a winner.. even if it means goin to sa, i would support it! mobley's hardwork on the hardwood deserves wins and with sa, he can achieve that..
Doesn't make sense. Hedo has already agreed to a contract, they could have him for nothing, and they prefer to trade a better player for him?
I can see it now, Its the Western Conference Finals. The game is tied with 5 seconds remaining. The ball goes into Duncan, Duncan sees Mobley open at the corner. Mobley pulls up and lets it fly as the buzzer sounds! Make it down, Mobley will come back to haunt us one day!
I thought Mobley made the most sacrifice last year and I considered him to be the only real loss in the McGrady deal. I'd like to see Mobley go to a contender, but not in the West and certainly not to SA.
Heck yes. I respect Ginobili's ability but Cat would be a significant upgrade especially on defense. We need more Lakers-style implosions out West among the contenders. We don't need San Antonio upgrading their weaknesses.
everything i've read (which mostly comes from aelliot and GATER) says that if mobley's alone, he can be traded within the 60 days. just no trading along with other players allowed for 60 days. man, why would orlando do this. not only will it make them worse, which would make me mad cuz i wanna see our players do well after us, but they can already get hedo for nothing (b/c i don't see SA matching). lets see, keep the SG and get a SF or trade the SG for the SF. hmmmm. although this would be right in line with weisbrod's comments that they have no intention of trading mobley or cato. on top of it, please not san antonio. lets ignore the fact they've owned us, are a contender we will have to compete with for years, and now would not only be upgrading the 2 spot, but upgrading with someone who will be motivated to play us, but it's the freakin' spurs. for the love of all that is holy, i'm already having to put my laker hatred on hold for rudy, now i've gotta either learn to hate cat (which i pretty much can't) or semi-root for the spurs. why doesn't bullard just go become an assistant coach for sloan and complete the trifecta. hell, maybe hakeem could come back and play for the knicks or something.
