    4. Cuttino Mobley-Steve Francis, Rockets
Mobley and Francis form what could be the NBA's most explosive backcourt duo, at least during crunch time. You hate to see a talent like Shandon Anderson go to waste (he starts, but plays fewer minutes than Mobley), but Mobley and Francis are getting the job done for the otherwise underachieving Rockets. They are 1-2 in team scoring (18.6 ppg for Francis; 17.4 for Mobley), but most of all, watch out for this duo in the fourth quarter. Mobley posted double figures in the fourth quarter in seven of the Rockets’ first 14 games, and Mobley and Francis have both scored in double figures in all but two of Houston’s games (the ones they both didn’t were losses). And on a cutesy note, the two got their wrists slapped by David Stern earlier in the season for wearing matching wristbands in tribute to each other.

Here's the link if u wanna see the other duos: http://www.sportingnews.com/nba/take5/index.html

Notice that Mobley Francis are the only guard-guard duo. If they did it that way, they would be number one.

That was a fruity picture of Kobe and Shaq, don't you think?

Brother, now you're bashing the Sportingnews. [IMG]

For one I consider Kobe and Shaq very good individual players, but duo [IMG] Just like what the article describes, they rarely play together. As much as I hate the Jazzhole duo, they are indeed the #1. I mean it's hard to find 2 players playing as dirty as each other. [IMG]

For Stevie and Cuttino, congratulations!!! What a respect they've earned. [IMG] ... but I still think Cuttino was stupid last night when he ran the clock off ... anyway ...

RR, that's sports writers. Take it easy man! They could even find something real bad to say about us when we got 2 champs.

    RR,

Same thing I said to myself. The Rockets being this far over .500 with a team that really is not that strong in a very strong conference can hardly be called underachieving.

    Oh well.

What a gay article , 13-9 looks pretty good to me .

(P.S. Dont look where Cuttino's right hand is in that picture or all the gay theories will come back to haunt us.)

I've never liked the Sporting News and I hate Dave D'Alesandro, but I really thought this article was cool.

I was /really/ surprised to see Steve and Cat get picked above Shaq and Kobe. Those two do are more productive than our guys, but they don't have any sort of real chemistry between them.

About the underachieving issue though -- I think the word to note is "otherwise". Let's face it, Steve and Cuttino are the reason we are where we are. OTHER than them, our players are kindof underachieving. Mo Taylor has been a dissappointment (so far), Kenny Thomas has been streaky, Shandon Anderson is MIA, Kelvin Cato gets hurt all the time. Other than Steve and Cuttino, I'd say our team may be underachieving. That's not to say that we aren't doing well -- we are, it's just that some of our players could be doing a lot better. It's impossible to argue that our individual players are playing up to or almost to their potential. Now it's getting better, but up until now, some of the team is underachieving. Notable exceptions are Dream (I don't think anyone expected him to be this good on the glass or to play so well in such limited time), Moochie (doing what we'd expect), and Collier (hustling).

    Wallace/Damon ??

"I am" is reportedly the shortest sentence in the English language. Could it be that "I do" is the longest sentence ?

Well, when I think of duos, I would think of the two best players on the team. Nothing against Damon, but I don't consider him second. I guess I would go with Steve Smith, even though Damon prolly is more important to Rasheed's success. Anyhow, I think you have them a little high.

i dont even think we should be rated ahead of shaq kobe.

Here is my top 5 based on watching the last couple seasons

    1. Shaq, Kobe
    2. Duncan, Robinson
    3. Malone/Stockton
    4. Steve/ Cuttino
    5. I'm not sure, right now the kings duo would probably be stoj/webber because pedrag is playing so much better, but i think there are better duos in the league(houston/ Spreewell, Garnett/ Brandon, etc.

I no longer rely on TSN for ANY reliable news. they are biased toward the rockets, hate the lakers and other big market teams, even if they are good.

    BTW, best duos ever- Clyde/ Dream, Payton/kemp(underdogs), Jordan/Pip, Magic/anyone

    RR, rimmy, et al,

I couldn't believe they used the word "underachieving" to describe the Rocks. I can see calling them below average or something, but underachieving implies that the team should be better than they are. I'm really surprised they have been this good thus far though the toughest part of their schedule is upcoming.

Methinks this guy needs a thesaurus.
