I hate presenting trade fantasies usually but... rockets get a 6'6 pg that can alternate defensive assignments or duties occassionally with francis. crawford wants out of chicago because jay williams and the guys in charge want jay starting. chicago is also weak at the SG spot. i don' t believe it works straight up , so there would have to be extras involved. I would also consider tony delk, whose starting job has been taken over by j.r. bremer. but that would leave the front court undersized a bit. the celtics could then move williams to the bench and pierce to SF to accomodate mobley.
I don't know if you've ever watched Crawford play. Crawford's defense is worse than Mobley's. He's an average distributor, a crap shooter. Not just because he has a PG tag with him then he would be good for us.
i have seen him play, and even have a few friends who rarely play pick up games with him near northwestern. anyhow, i think most of his games with chicago aren't a good assessment of his real ability yet yes, he doesn't really show much better stuff than mobley. i'm not trying to propose an unbelievable blockbuster trade to pull the rockets into the finals like the "griffin, mobley and moT for brand, andre miller and corey maggette" horsesh^t that flies around here - only to stir the winds of change. getting ANY PG, real or not and moving francis to SG might make this team suddenly work. francis suddenly doesn't have to create his shot off his own dribble always - he might even defend better for once. the other good thing about dealing with chicago is possible leverage for any of their superfluous forwards... marshall, fizer, robinson, or maybe even chandler/curry.
btw, that rolley eye face is starting to become a cult thing around here, i'm starting to really hate it... sarcasm or the intention of saying "i can't believe how stupid this" through an emoticon. wish it could be locked down, and thrown away, there are many better emoticons
If we're going to trade for anyone it should be for a proven player...not for another unproven youngster who's never won in the NBA.
I would, however, love to get Crawford to be the 3rd Guard off the bench in place of Moochie. If he shows lots of potential outside the triangle offense, at some point we'll make him the starter. If not, he'll backup with few minutes and his rookie contract expires in 2 seasons. But he is an intruiging player to have. What he's percieved to be is exactly what would fit alongside Francis. We dno't have anything else they'd want though. That's the problem. So unless it's a "just trade him for anything" we won't get him. Best we could come up with is probably a 3-way, or T-Mo and Mooch for Crawford plus giving back the 2 2nd round picks they owe us.
Chicago fans discussed the possibility of moving Crawford to SG on here (http://www.*********************/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=18767) and we want to trade for him to become our PG?
Mobley is a vet who will go to another team and lead. His skills are above average and he should start for most teams. He should bring more than a Crawford in trade. PG's like Bobby Jackson / Miller / Arenas / Bibby / Williams/Terry or SG's like Maggette / Giricik/ Knight/ Person. He is worth a lot more in return than he gets credit for.
i disagree! the problem with almost every single trade on this board is that they overvalue the rockets. i don't think any gm would rather have cutino mobley than the PG's you listed and would only consider swapping for a very limited range of SG's take a look around the league, the guard position is stacked and getting cutino would be one of the least important on the priority list. the rockets should be looking to get the best pg they can at the moment and just move francis over finally. no team has a gap at SG more so than chicago with trenton hassel. the second option would be to get a good forward, and briant grant neither has potential nor enough stuff to get us anywhere. we'd be better off trying for boozer, or nene hilario, someone cheap and might have the potential to become something better.
