Since last year I have been on both francis and mobley for ball hogging and stupid play. I always thought one had to go and that it should be mobley since francis WAS too good to give up. This year I have completely changed my mind after watching them play under JVG. Mobley for the most part has really molded his game to fit JVG style. He does not go trigger happy and his 3 point shoot has been huge. Plus his D is WAY better than Francis. He is a true shooting guard, he can score efficiently in many different ways. Francis on the other had is just a ego centered scrub. I rate him in the bottom 5 of all the point guards in the league. His game has gotten much worse then last year. 5 assists and more then 3 turnovers a game? Can it be any worse then that??? That stat alone should be an obvious sign that he has got to go. He is the anchor for the team being so bad at handling the ball. Not to mention his defense, he constantly gets light up and out played by every scrub in the NBA. The negative completely out weigh the positives. The rockets should trade him now if they want any value at all. His stock is going down fast. Ship him ut while we can still get some thing for him.
Mobley fits, because he strung a few good games together? So, if he strings a few bad games together, hes gone? Whats wrong with you people?
Mobley has been playing this way pretty much all year, he has CHANGED his game and is playing under control. There is nothing wroing with us people, we actually watch the games and know what's going on. True fans will stop being homers like you.
Would you trade Steve for Iverson? Yes right. Well Iverson averages over 4 TO's per game. Every player is entitled to a down year. Steve has improved his numbers every year of his NBA career except for this year. Steve will be fine.
Not saying i would trade 4 Iverson, BUT he is a hell of alot better player than Steve, he has proven he can lead his team to victory night in and night out & Steve well he really hasn't..
Haha I know I would. Iverson is AWESOME. He's just so fun to watch. But once he gets here, Yao will NEVER see the ball. Well... wait... actually Iverson penetrates and kicks out pretty well... maybe Yao will see the ball sometimes.
IF I were inclined to trade either player, which I’m not at this point, I’d keep Mobley and trade Francis. You make trades to get better and in my mind the only way for the Rockets to get better is to improve at PG and PF. My reasoning would go like this… If I offered Mobley and MoT or Cato I might get a better fit at PG, and a more rounded PF. I’d then move Francis to SG. But I think that would leave me weaker at both PG and SG so I’d have to really get someone good at PF to make the trade worthwhile. But… If I offered Francis and MoT or Cato, I’d probably have a better chance at getting a more capable PG and PF and I’d stay pat with Mobley at the 2. So I’d trade Francis. But honestly, we are going to have several more losses this year and after each loss there will be a trade so and so thread. How about we just let the team, coach and management included, learn who they are this year. Let them develop into something and then towards the end of the trade deadline evaluate what we have. Then we can make the trades.
Here we go again with another "Ship francis out" next week it will be ship Cato out. Steve and Cat and Yao are here to stay....deal with it.
salary-wise a trade of amaechi, griffin, mobley, norris and taylor for tim duncan is doable but sensibly it is a trade that cannot happen?
I can' beleive ppl are dignifying this post with a response (I realize the irony)...please lock this up, and refer ppl to the Forum Guidelines...carefully hidden at the TOP OF EACH PAGE.
Well, I admit Mobley has the best adjustment to JVG system so far, better than any other players in Rox, including Yao and Steve.
When Van Gundy had to stick Mobley on Damon Stoudamire because Steve was getting schooled by him, it was a sure sign that a fundamental change in thinking had happened. Maurice was getting schooled by Zach Randolph so much that Van Gundy had to stick Yao on him. Switching players off because of major defensive liabilities is huge negative because it creates mismatches all over the floor.
