"We should have won this one tonight," Mobley said. "I should have shot that last play. Rick Fox made a great defensive play and tipped it away from Kevin, but I should have shot the ball. It was my fault."

Yes it was a great game. He played a great game right up until the two mental upchucks...

Vernon Maxwell would have shot it. Mobley SHOULD HAVE SHOT it. He needs to have like 5 game winning shots to make me forgive him for that brainless pass. For that bad judgement, I won't move him in the class of Clutch player as --VERNON MAXWELL.

Come on crispee, we all know you want to defend your boy...

...but Francis was trying to do what makes the Rockets offense tick best: dribble and penetrate. When he managed to get by that first man, we were virtually a lock to score, it seemed. That time, the Lakers contained him. But what he was doing seemed sound to me. Yeah, he probably kept the ball to long. But that's a matter of degree.

I actually don't blame Mobley too much for his last shot. After all, Shaq's a scaaaaary guy in the paint. He was just giving Shaq some respect by not shooting it himself.

But that three pointer was a horrific mistake. Come on! There was just a jump ball! He had plenty of time to glance at the shot clock.

Missed the last part of the game (east coaster who gets up early for work) and haven't made it through all the threads yet, but I gotta admire Cuttino here. To stand up and say, "It was my fault" we lost, regardless of whether he is right or not, is the mark of a strong leader. Anyone can take the credit when things go right, but a leader makes sure that he shoulders more than his share of the blame when things go wrong.

Like I said, I haven't read all threads yet, but this is the type of thing I would like to see Steve saying if he is going to truly be the Franchise. This is what a true hogloving pork eater would say.

I only saw intermittent parts of the first 3 quarters and most of the last. From what I saw, I thought Mobeley was a goat: many airballs, one HUGE airball, and one careless pass. The guy has awful judgement on the court.

Then I saw the game recap and saw that he had somewhere around 25 points. Now I don't know what to think. How can he make so many bone-headed plays though?

    Did Moochie ever play?

And Mobley more often then not would take that. Funny the same people pounding him for not taking that shot and saying he's no Vernon Maxwell(No Maxwell!!??) are the same ones calling him a ball hog and saying that he needs to pass the ball more and get others involved. If he makes that shot people are STILL talking about the other mistakes he made.

Yes, Steve and Cuttino overpassed and made mental errors. Stevie missed a lot of layups, turned the ball over in crucial times, bricked an important 17 footer, and caused the jump ball in the first place (where Mobley took the ill advised shot--why does everyone focus on Mobley's shot in a 2-1 situation instead of Stevie getting trapped in the first place).

So both made a lot of critical errors, however they were the only one's generating any offense last night and overall came pretty close to matching by far the best pair of players in the league. The rest of the guys need to step it up so the Rockets can get leads, and hopefully next time Cuttino will take the available shots in the lane and Stevie will make that 18 footer he can get anytime against a player like Hunter if we do need a last shot to win.

Blaming this loss on Mobley? HA!

That's about all I can think of to say on that one -- HA!

Okay, maybe a little more -- this guy was listed as DOUBTFUL to even play! Thanks to him sucking it up, we didn't have to endure Oscar "the trainwreck" Torres tripping over himself all night! Then he comes out and matches Bryant's performance, and he's getting ripped? HA!

I guess no one wants to mention how he redeemed himself by hitting the 2 CLUTCH free throws to tie the game and send it into overtime? Of course not...HA!

I don't think anyone said he had a bad game, and his 2 free throws were Clutch...so were Cato's. Even Albert was saying how crappy he was from the line, and he burried 2. Cat played great except, once again, one of his mental errors cost us a game. There were other plays during the game buy other players as well. Problem is Cat's were mental. The crappy bounce pass that went back for an easy two, and the shot off the tip off....as well as the jack he put up the next time down the court right after tieing the game the previous trip. He's a hellova a player...just has mental lapses that are costly.

    Curly,

how did mobley's mental lapses cost us the game? the first one was in regulation, and w/o his ft's we don't go into OT. the second was a judgement call. he chose to pass to willis. should he have shot? yes. but i wouldn't say he cost us the game by throwing the ball into willis' paw.

    BuckeyeRocketFan,

    YESS!!!!!!

i was wondering if anyone else noticed that. cuttino is the true leader of this team...hands down. no one else has the balls to take the big shots, make the big fts, and be the "goat" if need be. this is no knock on stevie franchise. it's just a true realization that cuttinon has the balls necessary to take this team to the promised land.

those that are b****ing about his 2 "mistakes" tonight fail to realize that only a handful of players in the entire league make the shots that cuttino made down the stretch last night. still, they overlook it.

how about looking at willis' slippery paws? how about kenny thomas bouncing off of shaq's stomach on la's last pick and roll? i guess a bear hug was out of the question for kenny, huh? just let shaq dunk it right? f.uck it, why not?

how about steve not stopping and popping on his last drive, rather getting tied up and stripped out of bounds by lindsey hunter?

no one looks at these things, because these players hide under rocks and behind trees when the clutch plays have to be made. cuttino's right out there in the open...braving the elements. sometimes, he'll succeed. sometimes he won't.

did anyone else know that michael jordan missed over 35 game winning shots? and he made far less than that. it's the nature of the beast, people.

Buckeye, i'm glad we have a pork man on our team!
