I'd say he adjusted just fine to the zone rules, once he got comfortable with his entry pass at the elbow. <b>Mobley's 2nd Half Stats</b><br><table><tr><td>G</td><td>M/Gm</td><td>FGm</td><td>FGa</td><td>PCT</td><td>3m</td><td>3a</td><td>PCT</td><td>FTm</td><td>FTA</td><td>PCT</td><td>AVG</td><br></tr><tr><td>37</td><td>43.0</td><td>338</td><td>735</td><td>.460</td><td>74</td><td>199</td><td>.372</td><td>153</td><td>173</td><td>.884</td><td>24.4</td></font></tr></table> <table><tr><td><b>Player</td><td>Team</td><td>AVG</td></tr></b><tr><td>iverson,allen</td><td>Phi</td><td>33.3</td></tr><tr><td>o'neal,shaquille</td><td>LAL</td><td>28.4</td></tr><tr><td>mcgrady,tracy</td><td>Orl</td><td>26.2</td></tr><tr><td>duncan,tim</td><td>San</td><td>25.5</td></tr><tr><td>pierce,paul</td><td>Bos</td><td>25.4</td></tr><tr><td><b>mobley,cuttino</td><td>Hou</td><td>24.4</b> </td></tr><tr><td>webber,chris</td><td>Sac</td><td>24.2</td></tr><tr><td>bryant,kobe</td><td>LAL</td><td>24.1</td></tr><tr><td>rose,jalen</td><td>chi</td><td>22.5</td></tr><tr><td>mashburn,jamal</td><td>Cha</td><td>22.5</td></tr></table>
hehe... I can't hold...it...back....MOBLEY IS BETTER THAN KOBE! ok, its only in 2nd half scoring, but he is. On another note, I believe Mobley could be an all-star, possibly for more than a couple of times. This kind of shows that. Especially when guys like Wally are all-stars.
Personally I think he is. Kobe always seem to jack up some stupid shots. Although neither can be stopped when they are hot. Mobley is tha shiznit!
I think Mobley has a good shot at making the all star team. Other than Kobe, Mobley can keep up with just about any shooting guard in the West. Most of the quality twos (Iverson, Pierce, Ray Allen, McGrady, Stackhouse) are in the East...
2 main differences between Kobe and Cat: <b>D</b> and the ability to change shots while in the air. buy this in not a kobe thread, this is a cuttino thread!! Go Cat!!
Wait, wait, wait... Cat is not that good. All of his points are a result of pin point passes from Franchise. Anyone can make layups (Sarcasm guys, deep sarcasm) But HP that was a great stat to look up, great to see Cat among the league's elite! Rock on Cat!
That is impressive, even though the Rockets were just 15-22 during that stretch, but it was an upgrade over their 34% winning percentage for the season. One impressive stat in favor of Mobley during that time was he did better in the wins (25.5 ppg, 47.6% shooting, 41.3% from long range) than he did in the losses (23.6 ppg, 44.9% shooting, 34.5% from long range). I think it's clear the Rockets need an efficient Mobley, or an efficient player at the 2, to win, but either way it certainly shoots to hell the notion that Cuttino is a top notch shooting guard at 40% shooting simply because he could put up 20 points a night, like so many of the apologists claimed. Irregardless I don't think the Rockets are going to win any titles with Mobley and Francis as the sole players in the offensive show. Interesting to note also that in those 22 losses, Kenny Thomas averaged just 12.8 points and 6.7 boards on 44.2% shooting while in the 15 wins he put up 17.2 points, 9 boards and 1.34 steals on 54.9% shooting. Without effective players in the paint, the Rockets won't ever amount to much more than second-round flameouts in the playoffs, so hopefully this is where Ming and Griffin will add a great deal to this team this season and beyond.
Cat keeps getting better every year. Add in the looks Ming and an improved Francis are going to generate for him, his offensive numbers will improve again.
Interesting... Ray Allen is backing out of the world championships due to injury Ray Allen is a shooting guard Cuttino Mobley is a shooting guard Cuttino Mobley is in perfect physical condition Hmmm... M*U*S*H - Mobley for United States Hoops!!! Who's with me!!! It has to happen...
my sentiments exactly. we have had such inconsistency in the paint these past few years. I remember when Barkley apologized because he only got 4 rebounds in a game and said it was a disgrace. Lo and behold, now it's close to the norm for our big men. Francis and Mobes may lead us to the playoffs soon, but it'll be Griff and Ming who make us contenders. Cat does rawk btw.
two things that led to cat's explosion in the 2nd half of last season: 1) ankles getting healthy - how a person plays on 2 bad ankles in an nba game is beyond me. 2) repitition on his jumpers - somewhere around december of last year a switch clicked with cat's jumpers. suddenly they were much easier...less effort...smoother. his form became consistent and his %s went up with it.
If all goes well for the Rockets in the future Mobley's points won't go up but they will go down. With the hopefull emmergence of Ming and Griffin in the post there will be less shots to go around for Mobley and Francis. But with better post play comes more open shots for the guards increasing FG%.
I half agree with you Clutch. I've always thought Mobley was very underrated as a scorer. I think the Rockets can win again with Mobley being the number one or two scorer on this team with Francis playing the role of the playmaker for the entire team. Along with that though, the other guys need to step up their games like KT did in those wins you pointed out. Mo coming back and Griff still maturing will be the guys to do that more often than KT could.
I'm not going to say it.... I don't want to be banned. Good points, btw, Clutch. edit: I put up a link to explain it. http://dictionary.msn.com/find/entry.asp?search=irregardless Sorry Clutch. Didn't want to do it, but I'm a grammar freak. Most of the time, that is. Please don't ban me.
Wow, that's absolutely great for Mobley and the Rockets. But I have to say, that has to be his best 37-game stretch right? I mean, if you take players on the list, and compare their best 37-game stretch to Mobley's wouldn't they look phenominal too? Just wondering. About Clutch's comments, I totally agree. I think until Griffin gains a tiny bit more experience and a tiny bit more muscle and while Ming gets used to the NBA and gains a year's experience, here's what we should stick to: The same game plan as last year. Base our team on our backcourt (JUST THIS YEAR) and emphasize 3 things to Ming, Cato, Griffin, and MoT: Defense, rebounding, and more importantly, HIGH PERCENTAGE shooting. If they can get the high percentage shots, play samrt, while putting a lot of effort into D and rebounding, I think we can make 6th place in the West, but will lose to the Lakers. Then when Griffin and Ming are much mor ready, we can go to this high-post offense thing that goes through Ming. Thoughts?
