I am in the market for a new cell phone (preferrably with PDA) and I have been reviewing a myriad of them lately but I still cannot come to a resolution. I am interested in something with a PDA (between $300 - $450) for Cingular wireless service. I have bounced back and forth from FARADAY, Blackberry, Eten, HP...even to the basic Sony Errickson and similar phones. So I am hoping that there are some here who have experienced a few "good" phones out there that could drop a word or simply an advice that can help me make a sound decision. I know DD is into Gizmos but I am not sure that is the route for me. I am a sole proprietor and a college student as well. I already own a tablet PC and for that reason my wife says I may not need such a packed phone - that a simple phone will do. She is somehow right because I do not plan to use the full business fuctionality (like Data plan for full email use) of these phones now but I am looking at the near future. Simply, I am confused and I have been running in circles the last few weeks. I have gotten my reviews so far from... http://www.gsmarena.com/ Thanks in advance.
I have the Cingular 8125 and love it. If you are looking for a Cingular PDA, I can't recommend it enough. http://www.cingular.com/8125_consumer Here is a review.
That is quite a phone and the price is reasonable. Do you pay the price listed on the site, or did you find a better deal?
I bought it directly from Cingular because I wasn't able to find prices that were that much lower from other places like eBay. I was also leary of spending that much money and having something go wrong. I wanted to be able to go back to Cingular and make them make it right. It is worth every penny. I suggest getting screen protectors for it so that you do not have to worry about scratches. I found those on eBay. Bluetooth is awesome on it and I have a 2GB miniSD mem chip that I have tons of file, videos, mp3's, and even full DVD's. The keyboard is really good as well. Internet browsing is a little slow on it but still very adequate.
This site has it for 149.99 after rebates. http://www.inphonic.com/specialoffer.aspx?referringdomain=pdagroove&oflag=specialoffer&zipcode=77379&refcode1=8125&refcode2=&eid=&agent=&carrierid=62&phoneid=23890
That's with a new wireless account. I've had my account for years. I also bought it about a week after it was released. They didn't have many incentive programs back then.
maybe your contract is expired...if so than many independent retailers would give you deep discounts for you to renew wait..nevermind your not the OP lol
Thanks for the advice and it looks like a great deal. It was one of the FARADAY's I was looking at and your review here has done the trick. I really appreciate the extra tip on the Screen Protector. P.S. My biggest worry was its size - I assume that will not be an issue.
siemens sx66 wifi, bluetooth, dedicated keyboard, slider, nice screen, overall great phone. a little big, but a good lookin pda fone. not too costly either.
I used to have that phone but I upgraded it to the sx66. The 8125 is smaller and MUCH lighter. Plus it has Windows Mobile 5.0, a camera, better bluetooth, and the keyboard is better too. I'm WAY happier with the 8125 even though the sx66 is a decent phone.
i figured with a pda people would rather not have something small and u no tiny. for example the mda, its nice and all, but too small to do anything. and the camera's imo are useless, coz ppl with pdas usually RARELY are goin around snapping pics.. a smarter thing to do would be to get a wifi enabled pda fone and a wifi enabled camera and snap away.
So when is the best time to buy a cell phone and get the best price? Christmas? Does it really matter?
Both the T-mobile MDA and Cingular's 8125 are HTC Wizards both have wifi I would get the 8125 if you need a PDA
Weird that so many of you like this "Cingular" phone - I've read average reviews on a couple of sites. Maybe I need to head over to howardforums or phonescoop and find out more. I wish it was a black phone. I have been looking for a PDA/phone forever and haven't found anything that was a good value/bang-for-the-buck and also gets good reviews. If you go to amazon.com, you can find reviews on phones there as well as deals. Another good place is buy.com. I thought I would get the Treo 700, but it's been getting blah reviews on reliability. I also like the Verizon XV6700 which I thought OmegaSupreme or someone said was pretty good. I am currently with Cingular, so I dunno what I may be able to get this phone for. The Cingular site says I can upgrade for $299.99. Pfftt... I'd change providers before I paid that for this phone. Besides, that's the regular price on their main website for new customers. Boy, what an upgrade special! Woo. Have you guys checked out the Nokia 9300 from Cingular?
The Nokia 9300 is simply amazing. It's an updated version of the phone seen in the movie "The Saint". Nokia just released it via Cingular.
Nokia 9300 : It has no camera - which I don't care. It has no vibrate feature - which is a deal killer for me.
