Haven't been to Sao Paulo, but heard it rocks...big city nightlife...

If your there, you need to go to Rio...Just hang out at Ipanema Beach (msp?)...On Sundays, they close the roads and everyone just hangs out, real cool...

Sau Paulo can be alot of fun nightlife wise, but it's a huge city devoted to business and not tourism. 1 hour Flights to Rio run about every 30 minutes (about 100 us r/t at the counter) try to go there if possible and hit the beaches, visit Sugar Loaf or El Christo. Learn a little Portuguese - it goes a long way.

Do you have your Visa? You will need one. Also, about what NBAHOU713 said, VERY TRUE

MoBalls, do you have your Visa yet? You will need one. Try to learn a little Portuguese if only good morning, etc... it will go a long way and the 'Paulistas' (what those in Sau Paulo refer to themselves as) will appreciate that you at least tried. English is not their second language like many other countries. It falls down the list behind Spanish (can be very helpful if you speak it) French and Italian.

As for Sau Paulo it has a very HAPPN'N nightlife but is more geared towards business and not tourism. You will be astounded as you look from the window of your jet at Sau Paulos' high rise jungle sprawl. I've never seen anything like it.

There are one hour flights to Rio every 30 minutes (about $US100 r/t). Tickets can be gotten at the airport no reservation (or discount really applies by booking in advance) needed. Just GO TO RIO if you can and hit the beaches (Bara in particular), visit Sugar Loaf or El Christo. Rio is AWESOME and should not be missed. Be sure to go to a Chuscaria (all you can eat, specializing in various meats restaraunt) and by all means sample a Caprihina if you drink.

And about what NBAHOU713 alluded to - IT'S ALL TRUE!  :D

Okay I have told my wife about the Visa and she was already working on that. I am planning on hitting RIO and Jericoacoara Beach. I will also buy some good sunglasses and protection for my ribcage.

haha! I once heard of a guy that went there on his honeymoon. He was in his hotel room after being there for 3 days. He told his wife he was going downstairs to get a drink and would be back. He disappeared for 2 days, and apparently went all out and had fun. Told his wife he got lost......You could try that. Maybe disappear for a few hours, dont know about a couple of days.

I went to Sao Paulo two years ago. Don't pack any shorts, as they scream "tourist". It's one place on earth you can go to get lots for your dollar as the exchange rate is very favorable for the US. Brazil is great, enjoy the caiparinhas, and try not to get caught gawking - because you will gawk!

Being Brazilian, for females, is not a nationality. It's a characteristic of being hot. Like having a nice ass, or nice legs, etc... Being Brazilian is just something else. Haven't been to Brazil, but I know some Brazilian girls and OH MY GOD.... WOW. Unbelievable, and when they start speaking Portugese, it's over...

Rio is beautiful but dangerous so beware.
One thing you should not miss is Iguassu falls which is about 250-300 miles southwest of Sao Paolo. They are huge man! Makes niagara falls look like a leaky faucet.
    have fun and take care

For real. I got this advice from a friend who married a Brazilian and goes there up to four times a year. When I got there I found out he was absolutely correct - the only people wearing shorts were the homeless.

I don't know if this information was specifically meant to apply to Sao Paulo, but I can try to get more information off of him.

I hear that tourist crime there is pretty rampant. Be careful.
