last year was a bad offseason to rebuild. not many good picks out there, most agents weren't good at all. this year theres alot. vincent and lewis might opt out. and billups could pull out a suprize like his teamate, ben wallace, did. this years draft is also very deep.

He would be better than Rafer, but he is pretty short.

draft pick+ bob sura expiring contract? anything? we really need to get some under-the-radar talent, the way dallas got terry or phoenix getting joe johnson a long time ago.

Getting Mo Williams and a solid PF would solidify our starting 5 as dominant.

A better example is Mike James. It is possible if Mo W wants to leave Milw a full MLE, like we can offer, is the best he can get. So we could be in the mix.

IMO he should be the #1 FA target.

So, everyone b****es about Rafer's 3pt shooting (36%) but wants a guy who shoots it worse (34%)?

mo williams gets to the basket and has a medium range game. On the bucks he'll shoot about 20 shots and maybe 5 threes at most. obviously if we get him, his shot attempts will have to be down

Alston will jack up 15 shots and 11 of them will be threes.

Precisely. He'd be the guy opposing teams would choose to leave open (and rightfully so!). And he's still short, so he'd get pounded by the likes of Deron Williams and Baron Davis and other 'brawny' PGs.

    Pass, I say.

So the search for something better than Skip continues...

Mo Williams is a highly rated guard. The guy can slash and he can rebound. He scores a ton of points too. He's a player that I had on my fantasy squad and he's at least as good as Monta Ellis.

yeah it would be insanely difficult but if we could get him we would have a pretty solid guard scenario, seriously doubt Milwaukee would trade for much off our roster...

    6-1 isn't under-sized for a PG.

I think he might price himself a bit outside our range..

say we go after Sam Cassell. Say whatever you want about his age, decline, look or anything, the guy is still very productive. He's coming off one of his worst season but I believe that was more due to the injury rather than his age though it does play a role. Watching that Lakers-Clippers game this year showed how good he is. That was his first game back and he was rushing back two weeks ahead of schedule yet dominated that game in the 4th. His mid-ranger is as good as gold and has a solid 3 point shot. Has a characteristic which really none of our players have except McGrady for some extent in leadership. He's been in every possible situation and is a flat out winner. Very high Bball IQ, can score, good play-maker and won't choke in the playoffs unlike guys like Head, Howard and other role players. His leadership would also be a big plus. At times when our team looks like crap (happens a lot) and unmotivated, he'll come right in and get the team fired up. Say what you want, but he has one of the most impacts on the game as much as any PG (excluding the obvious) as any PG in the entire league.

Maggette has also had problems with the team. Sure he might be a ball-stopper but has a decent mid-ranger and always looks to attack. Has size, length and athleticism that we need desperately. Please don't give me some garbage about him being a ball hog or what not. He can play in a team concept and you have to take risks to win it all. Look at the Heat last year. Everybody questioned getting Walker, Payton, Williams and others because throughout there careers they were known as ball-stoppers with a big ego. They came to a new situation, adapted and were a HUGE part in their championship success last year. It's all about risks, and these aren't what I'd even call a "risk" since these guys are proven players. We need to make a deal for them.

How bout something along the lines like:

Alston, Sura, Wells, Head, and Snyder
    for
Cassell, Maggette and a second round pick

I don't know if we give up too much but I was just checking what fits salary wise. Sure we give up essentially 4 for 2 but we still would have the MLE to work with and possibly split with 2 players (Webber and Kapono perhaps?) and two draft picks that we can either use or even package in a deal for a guy like Brevin Knight as a backup.

Let's get this deal done, who's with me and finish with a lineup with something around this. Not exactly, but something

    PG-Cassell/Knight
    SG-McGrady/Maggette/Veterans minimum or LLE
    SF-Battier/Maggette/ Veterans minimum or LLE
    PF-Webber/Hayes/Howard
    C-Yao/Mutumbo/Howard
