Well again Mo has a big game even though he was in foul trouble early. This was a huge game since it proves that even when Steve and Cuttino are not going well the Rockets still have another scorer to get the job done. Hakeem had a great game as well, and the bench was huge in the first half. Props to Walt in this game as he finally had some offense. BobFinn*, I am sorry but you dont know what you are talking about so quit hating. ------------------ Rockets Season Ticket Holder
It's easier for the rest of the team when the opposing coach thinks shutting down the Steve/Cat backcourt by doubling them every possession will be enough to win. The way they've been playing lately could easily make one think that would be enough. They forgot about Dream and Mo. It's nice to see the rest of the team step up, too. ------------------ [This message has been edited by treeman (edited February 21, 2001).]
I do not hate Mo. This is how he should have been playing all year. It bothers me that a man with that size plays so soft. Lets hope he continues this so we can get to the playoffs. ------------------ When we tire of well-worn ways, we seek for new. I never said you hated Mo although I can see how thought I meant that you did. All I was saying is that you have been negative on Mo Taylor from DAY 1. If you look back over the course of th season you will see that Mo has had more "good games" than bad games. For awhile from around Dec 13 to Jan 16, Mo was averaging about 17 pts and 7 rebounds. I dont see how that isnt considered consistent. It also is very hard for Mo to have a great game every game since he is the 3rd or 4th option during the game. Even tonight when he scored in the 4th it was from a rebound and also from getting fouled if I am correct. Steve and Cuttino get all the plays called for them in the 4th and even Hakeem gets a couple of touches as well. ------------------ Rockets Season Ticket Holder
Great Post Bob I don't take offense or go into denial when Mo has a good game and BBSers post accordingly, so why then does everyone have to get so defensive and go into denial if he has a poor game and rebounds like he is 5 ft nothing (yes they have happened) and people post criticisms about it. Let me get it back on track. I think I finally owe an apology to The Cat. While his optimism is downright nauseating at times HE WAS RIGHT. I recall several times disagreeing with him about Mo--playing soft, not getting rebounds. I was too hard on the man, and didn't give him a fair shot. I believe I even suggested trading him straight up for Joe Smith--not one of my prouder moments. So, likewise, when he started to play much better, I felt I should give him time in this aspect as well, so as to not jump on or off the bandwagon that quickly. Don't get me wrong--the man still plays softly a lot of the time, and you're kidding yourself if you think his rebounding is optimal. But I must give respect where respect is due. Maurice is playing the way I expected him to play BEFORE the season. I rode the man (in a non-prison-movie type way) way too much early on in the season. I'm not just saying this because of this one game, or the last two games. I've been meaning to say something for a little while now, it's just that tonight seemed to be a pretty decent opportunity. My bad. ------------------ Jazzkiller [This message has been edited by slcrocket (edited February 21, 2001).]
Smeg, If not for people posting criticism's constantly, I would not even personally consider to post topics like I have the last two days. I know one game isn't the season. But if you dish it out against my Rockets-- I might dish it back when they have a good game. Please do not take this as sounding arrogant, etc.-- that is not me and that is not what I am trying to say at all. I just love the Rockets and it really annoys me when people bash them when they don't deserve it, and I believe in the philosophy of giving people "a dose of their own medicine" at times. ------------------ "We're not settling for just getting in the playoffs." Cat, no probs I understand your position esepcially regarding undeserving criticism of player, which i stand up to all the time for Cuttino, especially with Clutch and his thoughtful heat of the moment posts. But my only bone of contention is that how can you say Mo didn't deserve criticism, he is 6ft 10 and over at least the first month of season he was averaging 4 rebounds a game and as my signature said back then Mugsy Bogues averaged over 4 reb a game for a whole season once. Undeserving criticism should be JAMMED back down the Criticers throats, ie with Collier, as it was really harsh to get down on a untested rookie, but if players are playing downright lousy then they have to cop some flak. All in all, i hope Mo continues to perform at the current two game high standard, but i will stick to my initial impression that he is not the answer unless the question is regarding losing in the first round of the playoffs. Quote from Mo from the Chronicle for all you haters of Mo: ...I really don't get into what people say I can do and can't do," Taylor said of criticism of his rebounding numbers. "Every player has his unique, individual style. I know Kevin Garnett has his. I have mine. No matter how many people say, `He doesn't rebound,' I can impact a game. Those two big plays were for the panel -- the panel of judges." ------------------ Rockets Season Ticket Holder
