Am I the only person who thinks Mo Taylor is the next J. Howard? 5 boards 14 points .5 blocks and .6 steals for his career... and having worse numbers on the rockets (better team than the clips when mo taylor was there) making 8-10 mil for the next few years yeeah good one Dawson
What the hell? There are plenty of these threads when Mo is actually PLAYING. Why start one now? The truth is that Mo has not played for very long in the NBA. He is young, and he has plenty of room to improve. Get off his case.
I just don't see a place for him on this team and who would want him? lord i hope someone does compare to Kenny Thomas (this year) min 33.7 .476%fg .662ft 6.90rpg 1.8apg 1.24stl .79blk 2.24to 2.80pf 13.9pts min 28.6 .489fg .735ft 5.50rpg 1.5apg .41stl .55blk 1.81to 3.00pf 13.0pts Mo Taylor I'm not saying he's a bad player, Howard isn't a bad player... but they're both horribly overpaid so is rice... so is kato Steve is up for reelection how are we going to pay for Lewis who wants a max contract? psh I hope so but i doubt it
Who's Kato? We are getting Lewis? Don't you think Lewis would be over-paid with the max contract? I sure do! And sure, I want Steve to be president but he is not up for election just yet.
Mo Taylor playing like Howard is totally your speculation. Yes, the man DID play like Howard the first few years, but he hasn't played for almost a year now. How does anyone know how he will play when he comes back? Plus he's still relatively young. Diss him when he comes back and plays like the way you said he would ...... Case closed for now ...
I don think Mo plays like Howard... maybe their stats are similar.. but the way they run offense is different... Howard is done.. he will never get better.. Mo is still young and he will only improve if he can take care of himself.
The difference is that Howard is making 18.75 million this year and next year he is set to make 20 mill. Mo Taylor is making 6.5 million this year. I think only one is really horribly over paid.
I heard that before he got hurt, he was working out every day and had really stepped his game up another level.
ipbman is young to this board, but he is wise beyond his years. Young Jedi, it is a wise man who prioritizes rebounds and defense over 14 foot jumpers in a power forward.
At least Howard did make a all star appearence. They are very similar and Howard is only 28. People were saying he's still young 3 yrs ago , then you look up and now he's cloing in on 30. If Taylor is still with this team in a few yrs, we'll be saying the same thing.
Let me say again I'm not dogging Mo Taylor so much as questioning his usefulness on this team and my belief he is now untradable. In the Western Conference he'll play against Karl Malone, KG, Wallace, Duncan, C Web, Brand etc Now, who do you think Mo Taylor is going to lock down on D? I think Taylor did a very good job of opening up houston's offense with the perimeter shot, bringing big guy's outside. Eddie Griffin has this same ability, only VASTLY more potential than a 5th year 6'9 pf If we play EG at the 5 and Mo T at the 4 that makes for a very small front court, but interesting. Do you think a 5th year guy who just signed a huge contract and _improved his game_ will want to come off the bench for Eddie?
You can't trade Mo T with an injury and a drug strike. Better figure out how to use him. Your options are starting 3, starting 4, backup 3, backup 4. I suppose some of this will shake out in training camp next year, when Rice, Grif, Mo T and KT all compete and show their skills. I would say everything depends on Grif. Everyone else should adjust to him so he uses his talents best. He's the legitimate future star in the frontcourt. Don't make him diminish his skills to cover some second-rate teammate's weaknesses. Showcase his talents first, then plug away with the rest as best you can. If one of the others can play well with Grif, fine, start him - otherwise, find a use from the bench. I would try Mo T at the 3. I'd rather have a defensive liability outside than inside. On the offensive side, he's big and can work clear for the j, or drive on the clearout. I hope he does come back strong and show something next year. At least he'll have value then, even if he's not a perfect fit.
And whats wrong with Juwon Howard? If he wasnt getting payed $105 million and if he wasnt the fourth option on a deep Dallas team, half the teams in the NBA would take him in a heartbeat.
