NEW YORK -- Sacramento Kings forward Maurice Taylor was suspended five games by the NBA on Wednesday for violating terms of the anti-drug program.

Taylor has been suspended twice previously for substance abuse violations. According to terms of the collective bargaining agreement, a player receives a five-game suspension for a third positive test for mar1juana.

He missed the first five games of the 2002-03 season, then served a six-game penalty during the '03-'04 season.

Taylor joined the Kings after he was waived by the New York Knicks during the preseason. He has played in only four games and hasn't scored.

The suspension begins with Thursday night's game against Miami.

twice? wow i forgot the second one. I remember he did once where it was when he was injured the whole season and had to serve it the beginning of Yao's rookie year.

Now that I think about it, yea, i remember the second time, first year Tmac was here....

is Mo still getting paid via the contract we stupidly gave him??

do people really believe he had talent to waste??

you know what i would have love to have seen, some rebounding drills at Knicks training between Mo and Curry... and the ball just roll out of court

I know, I know... you can make anyone look good in a highlight video, but Taylor did have talent. I think the potential for a good career ended when he busted his knee that one offseason...

I don't know what's more sad, the fact that somebody actually made a Maurice Taylor mix video, or that I spent 1:23 watching it...

Achilleus, it wasn't his knee, it was a tendon. Guess which one.

(the hint is in this post.)

I agree. It's revisionist to say he didn't have talent when we signed him. Maybe not the most professional player, but he had size, mobility and a very nice shot. I think he coasted on his talent and when he blew that tendon, had nothing left to sustain his career.

    Wow Mo Taylor was skinny....

heh, actually i was excited when we signed him as a free agent, had the tools of a PF and remember, he almost went to Orlando to play with McGrady/Hill and ended up playing with Tmac anyway. I remembered that dunk over Bradley, I was amazed and was thinking wow, Hakeem was still on the team with us.

In college, I remember the freshman Mo looked like an NBA SF, but he just sort of grew too big for his game and never really learned to play big.

Waste of talent indeed. If I had that height, Rockets would have gotten their 8th ring already. :)
