I've never been much into cold sandwiches except for PB&J. I often microwave the ones that aren't really supposed to be hot. I used to make a "gourmet sandwich" vaguely based on a recipe I found at epicurious.com ; chicken, pesto, sundried tomatoes, and arugula. (you soak the tomatoes in hot water so they're soft again) I found I really liked it with the yellow tomatoes. You can get pesto without having to make your own. (of course, there's the cheesesteak at Chili's which beats everything else, if that counts) Those Vietnamese sandwiches look good, but I have a question. I used to get those in Austin and some of them came with these translucent stringy stretchy things. They were hard to chew and seemed to be made of little segments. I couldn't even decide whether they were animal or vegetable. What's up with that?
Philly cheesesteak Turkey panini You can't go wrong with any sandwiches other than the one eaten during school.... That stringy part is probably beef tendon. There's some varieties that have pate in them. As a starving student, I used to go to a shop in OC that sold 3 for 3 bucks. Now I can't touch the damn things.
