Does anyone have this? I'm getting a free preview right now, but I couldn't get the Astros last night. I believe it wasn't televised in Houston, but I figured I'd at least get the Cincinatti feed. It seems that a good deal of Astro games come on in Austin already - I'm not sure, but I'm guessing maybe 50 a year. I'd like to see more, but if I'm going to be getting blacked out, I don't want to pay for it. Any insight from anyone on this?
MLB has the worst blackout restrictions. You'll notice the Astros and Rangers are blacked out in the southwest region even though there is no way to get the games otherwise. You can find blackout zip codes on this website: http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/video/mlb_tv.jsp?partnerId=300x60_mlbtv_screen It's the same thing as Extra Innings.
DAMNIT! Cox better pick up the ch.51 games. My zip is on the blackout list, and I am 100+miles out of houston. THAT my friend, is BS! I was looking to watch the games COX didn't pick up online. Ugh.
Thanks for the info. I think what would help is, when/why are games blacked out? I still don't know when games are going to be blacked out, only that my zip is on the list.
The Freak, you can get most games in Austin with regular cable. They will be either on FSSW or channel 77(Time Warner). Games not televised in Houston are usually not televised in Austin either though.
If you have dish in Austin, don't you get all televised Astros games on either FSSW or an alternate channel?
Are games often not televised in Houston? This is the first year I've watched in a while, so I don't know. Thanks.
Any game involving the Astros is blacked out all season on Extra Innings if your zip is on the list. It has nothing to do with whether the game is televised locally. Games are blacked out to protect local carriers like FSN SW (Houston) and KNWS. That makes sense if you live in Houston, but if you live outside the metro and can't get KNWS or FSN SW(Houston) you get screwed by MLB if your zip is on the list.
I watched the game yesterday on Extra Innings ... I don't think FSSW in Austin was showing it either. Looks like they're showing today's though.
