I am always dropping mixed metaphors and Kevin, the other half of my band, came out with "Sorry I am late. I drove l;ike a banshee out of hell." Anybody have more mixed metaphors? I have a pretty comprehensive list but want to hear some creative original ones.
Not really a mixed metaphore but I want to know what the hell "Big as Day" is supposed to mean. IT is "Bright as Day" example: I saw the whole thing it was "Big as Day" I have argued with my wife about this several times and we have a friend that says it too. I'm like how can you see somethign as "Big as Day" you see something "As bright as day" that means you saw something clearly. Man I hate that phrase. CK
I have heard the simile "Rough as a cob" used before. Well, now I use it for everything. It started out with my friends and I saying it was "windy as a cob." Now everything that is extreme for some reason is "[extreme] as a cob."
I've always been puzzled when people say "It's cold as hell out here!" Umm...isn't hell usually considered HOT?
The only thing I can come up with for this one is the following example: I have a red shoe you have a blue shoe. I also have a red shirt you have a blue shirt . When comparing my items to your items they have the same difference. CK
I use "hot as hell" and thats probaby where "cold as hell" came from. Actually i tend to use hell quite a bit. Anyway, who the hell knows. see
