Yang is like, I told you so.

It IS the answer. Especially in times like these. Giving people $15/hour does nothing but alienate the middle class. Especially when those people can't work.

I mean I support it, at least during this crisis.

$6000 a month? If Im a business owner, im sending home my bottom 25% and let the government pay for them. I will then give monthly bonuses to those who choose to continue to work. When this temp UBI ends, i will be terminating those 25% and hiring better people because we will be in a serious recession and the unemployment market will have better skilled people.

Mitt Romney is now the most liberal Mormon in the history of the LDS.

    6,000 is depending on need.

I more support the 1k flat rate though.

I mean someone is going to have to pay people that can't go out and work because they don't want the virus or to spread it to someone they love. Either the businesses are going to pay workers for basically paid sick leave (for who knows how long at this point) or the government will, but if they don't get paid we are going to have major issues.

Duh , us yang fans know this is a good idea , crisis or not , but the crisis IS making this seem like a better idea to more and more people .

**** AOC tho , she was saying UBI is a “libertarian Trojan horse” and was campaigning against it when Yang was still in... now all of a sudden it’s a good idea.

part of the reason I liked Yang’s proposal is because he actually had a way to pay for part of it (and hoped the increased economy and savings would pay for the rest) ... if we do it now it’s gonna be a one -time disaster thing and we will finance it in a stupid way ... then when the emergency passes we will say “looks it’s too expensive”

I don't know what number or mechanisms are appropriate, but absolutely support some sort of emergency UBI.

I don't think people STILL realize how devastating this is going to be.

    Even Trump is shook now.

When Obama raised benefits for the unemployed to help them through the Great Recession, it ballooned deficit spending in the hundreds of billions to the point where trade desk jockies at CNBC kicked, screamed and cried foul over it becuz it wuhdint fair :(.

This will do the same, if not even more.

We need a nickname for Fed Chairman Powell.

When Yang was campaigning on UBI -COVID19 was in bats only.

A stimulus payment to every American is probably one of the few urgent programs even the Trump Administration would minimally **** up. And we can't wait till January.

    Everyone should favor this.

This crisis is bringing me around to the idea of UBI and I'm glad to see Romney is on board .

1000 bucks isn’t going to go very far if you’re not working and you don’t have paid leave but I guess it’s better than nothing.

think about the “before” effects too . Would the stock market be crashing and businesses be rapid firing if this stimulus was already in place?

so much of this panic Is being cause by fear and economic anxiety and uncertainty

everyone should favor it now of course .

for once it would be nice if we were ahead of the curve

It's the only thing the government can basically do today. More complex stuff requires...offices and things that we need to avoid now.

For once , we agree on a freebie.

I really cant see how half the country can hold it together financially otherwise.

My only concern is that it deflates the value of "work" .... and therefor the dollar - IF it should go on longer than a few months.
