Anyone here own one? Is it reliable, any weird reoccuring problems? Am I correct in assuming the V6 engine means cheaper insurance, comparable to a Camaro? Any good links or reading I can do? Thanks in advance.
Regarding links. Go to google.com and do a search for "3000GT". You'll be presented with a bajillion results many of which are fan pages and 3000GT clubs. If you have access to Usenet newsgroups, go to alt.cars.mitsubishi for info. The alt.cars.* newsgroups are usually a great source of info if you can wade through some of the garbage. If you trust carpoint.com's reviews, here's a link that will lead you to reviews, problems, and pricing associated with the 3000GT : http://carpoint.msn.com/Vip/Overview/Mitsubishi/3000GT/Used.asp Another reliability ratings site : http://www.partsamerica.com/reliabilityHome.asp Recall and complaint information can be found here : http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/ Oh... and is it a VR4? Come on, get a VR4!
ziggy.. a guy at my high school that I know has a 96 model I believe it is. If you want I can ask him if he has had any big problems etc with it. I believe he just has the base model with a nice dvd/stereo system etc that he installed and he is about to make some modifications to it so he can get some more speed for whatever reason. I'll ask him whatever you'd like to know. I assume you are just wanting it for a good car not so worried about racing or how fast it can go etc ?
Find out what the insurance is and if any major reoccuring problems have happened. Thanks to both of you.
ziggy.. ok i'll see what he says.. i'm not sure of your age but he's 17 by the way so his insurance i'm sure is quite a bit higher than yours would be assuming you are over 25 or whatever the age is where insurance goes down..
All right the insurance is no big deal but where the heck do you find these cars? These suckers a rare! And when you do see one it has 125,000+ miles on it. The papers, ebay, dealers, dealer only auctions, autotrader.com, and there is barely anything! Ferrari's seem to be more abundant. Any ideas? Know anyone who knows someone? I imagine replacement parts are as rare as some of those beanie babies.
Probably 85-100% Japanese parts so maintenance will be a b!tch. I used to own a Volvo so I know how much parts can be. I am surprised that they are hard to find... even though it is a discontinued model.
How far do you want to drive? They have quite a few in Atlanta. <a href="http://www.ajcclassifieds.com/osform/MVCCService?osform_template=%2Fstandard%2Fquery.oft&publication=atlanta&category=TransportationVehiclesAutomobiles&sortAttribute=summary&sortOrder=ascending&branding=atlanta&fastSearchHelp=&fullTextHelp=&startDate=9/8/2001&startDate_comparison=less&displayCount=20&adDescription_regex=ajc1075srchMit%20AND%20%283000%29">Click Here</a>
Im taking a guess here but I am pretty sure the Dodge Stealth has a fair amount of compatable parts so it may not be so hard to fix it up. Im off to check that link...
