Edit - This topic has been started as a new thread several times, so I split this out of the <a href="http://bbs2.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=91057">"Mobley" topic</a> from a few days ago

I was a little shocked to read this. In Mitch Lawrence's NY Daily News column this morning, he says:

    http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/story/282511p-242124c.html

A few Sacramento players are calling Cuttino Mobley a "cancer." It seems that Mobley doesn't move the ball enough, wants to bring it up all the time and does it too slowly. Well, what did they expect?

By "A few Sacramento players," I get the feeling he means "A few posters on a Sacramento Kings message board,"

There's a seven page thread about this exact thing, practically verbatim, on Kingsfans.

    Eh. It's the Daily.

His first couple of games he was setting up everyone. Haven't seen a Kings game since. From what I've seen, he makes them better, another scorer...

At the same time, I could see the "doesn't move the ball enough, wants to bring it up all the time". But isn't it too soon for Teammates to call him out? I'm having a hard time believing this statement....

Could it be because of their recent losing ways? You know when you lose the cats and dogs come out.

Who are these "Sacramento players" anyway? Definitely not Webber who welcomed him immediately.....

    Peja
    Miller
    Bibby
    House
    ???

Doesn't surprise me. I've always wondered why Mobley was so popular with the Rockets. He's a good role player, who thinks he is a star.

But I really thought Mobley grew out of that the past couple of seasons.

Mobley brings the ball up sometimes because Bibby isnt in the game and Mobley has to play some PG duty. I have seen him do this.

I am pretty sure the people calling him a "cancer" are not Webber. Probably Peja, Miller or Bibby.

Clearly Mobley is shooting more than Christie did. So that means SOMEONE isnt getting as many shots. Peja is probably the one, although I havent done any research on it.

Mobley as a "cancer" kind of surprises me. But if the Kings management feels that way then they can just do a S&T with Mobley to another team after the season is over much like Atlanta did with Stephen Jackson to the Pacers.

The more pressing problem for the Kings isnt Mobley hogging the ball. It is their defense. And in my opinion Peja hasnt been pulling his weight. He has the skills of a Nowitzki but is pretty much mailing in this season because he is sulking since his friend Divac is gone.

This team could really benefit from trading away Peja for a defensive enforcer at the wing position. Artest would have been perfect if he didnt have some much baggage.

Some baggage? That's like saying Samsonite factory has "some baggage".

I hope Bibby and Peja force them to trade him at the end of the season, maybe we can get him to come back to Rocketland.

People always talk about how full of it Sam Smith or Pete Vecsey supposedly are, but Lawrence is much, much worse. Phil Jackson wanted $16 million (when we've been hearing 10 and 12.5 mill)? Curry wants a trade?

The Kings have been crap for the last week or so, but a couple of points go their way and they're riding a winning streak. I haven't seen every minute Cuttino has played with the Kings, but I've often seen him leading the break. LIke Deuce said, somebody is losing shots, but I'm still not buying this.

are entire squad had problems last year,,,,they all thought they were better then they were...thats why we got rid of them...they were uncoachable

as a team, they had an excuse for every loss, how many times did we hear the same old excuses from them...i believe the comments about mobley

he is a talented player but has a bad attitude..along with steve

I'd prefer to get Bibby or Peja. Cuttino doesn't fit on the Rockets team.

Considering Mobley is shooting 46% from the 3 point line and is almost averaging 4 assists a game for them. I doubt he is the problem. Their problem is webber who is pretty much just a jump shooter now. Their team lives and dies with Webbers jump shot and health. They have no low post threat at all. Nothing they can do if their shots aren't falling.

Cat is making a good percentage of his shots. If you folks remember, he single handedly beat us at home in that OT win.

If you want to blame anyone for the recent Queens skid, look no further than Peja who probably cannot get it up after Divac is gone, and of course Webber, who rountinely begins the game by going 1-9 from the field.

If you are so cold from the floor, why cannot you sacrifice your shots and let the hot hands - Miller, Cat, and Bibby take more shots?

    Single-handedly?

    Webber: 30 points, 9 boards, 6 assists, 3 steals, OT-forcing triple
    Bibby: 28 points, 14 assists
    B. Miller: 19 points on 8-10 shooting, 14 boards, outplayed Yao

Mobley's three-point percentage is through the roof this year... however his overall shooting percentage is the same it's been his whole career ... if not worse.

i'm hoping he just meant the 3's he hit in OT and not the whole game.

as for being a cancer, mobley's a guy who plays hard every night, plays on both ends (unlike some kings), seems like a very personable and friendly guy who other guys get along with, and he's a pretty good player. i haven't watched a ton of sacramento but webber and bibby seem to still lead them in points every night (bibby had a 3 or 4 game tear after with cuttino on the team) and mobley usually comes in 3rd or 4th when i see a box score. of course he does shoot more than christie but it would be hard not to, and he seems fairly willing to pass. and when you're shooting 46% on 3's, it's hard to say he shouldn't be taking them.

i guess i could see peja complaining but i hardly even notice peja is on the kings anymore when i watch them b/c he never seems to be trying to do anything. the two big guys, webber and bibby i can't imagine are complaining.

    oh well.

    That was what I meant.

I have watched several Kings game in the recent weeks. You have to blame Webber and Peja (no show) for most of their recent losses.
