Hey, did anybody see those pictures on the Rockets's site with Ming? Not even a hint of a smile. Everybody else looked happy as hell, as if they all had a couple of Rudy Colas. Did you notice the name of the Shark's assistant coach? Wang Chun. . . I know it's wrong, but I can't resist, "Everybody have fun tonight, do do do, everybody Wang Chun(g) tonight!" Seriously though, why wasn't he smiling? Just a serious guy I guess. Now before all hell breaks loose, I just pointed out that he wasn't smiling, I didn't say anything negative. Please, don't respond to this with "We need to trade Oski2005, he sucks!" or "Oski2005 should shut up and work on his smilies to posts ratio because Ming rules!" or even "We should trade Oski2005 for Brentbarryslamdunkchamp96 because even though Oski has more posts, Brent replies instead of starting threads!" All I said is that he wasn't smiling. I know that I've hinted that I would prefer a more established player, because I feel he would be ready to smile now, instead of waiting for a guy who will smile later. I trust my administrators, Clutch and Jeff, I know they will make the right decision.
well of course ming wasn't smiling. he hates the rockets, especially coach rudy who keeps offering him budweiser. his body language is just proof of this. if we draft him he will go missing in china because wang zhi zhi did that here and since he is chinese he will also do the same thing. no doubt baby. oski - i know you weren't implying anything, just having some fun.
Well i dunno if I can answer your question, but in many Asian countries it can be considered rather impolite to smile at someone....I'm not saying people over here are cranky or in a foul mood, but we are taught to be composed and reserved, even to the point of being expressionless when dealing with strangers...It's considered good manners. so many times, westerners tend to get offended easily. Just remember that it's a cultural thing. This has been changing a bit with the infusion of Western culture, but it's kinda hard to change things that has been embeded in the culture for over 1000 years. It traces its roots back to Confucianism. I've lived in the states for 15 years and Korea for 9 years, and I also noticed what you may be noticing now when i arrived here last year. No biggie,...To me, Yao seems to be very gracious and flattered by Rudy's visit. He seems pretty sincere and genuine.
Is that Chris Tucker on the picture? I guess they're replacing Jackie Chan for the next Rush Hour sequel.
Thanks for the culture lesson, but I actually knew that already. I was just trying to poke fun at the people who keep saying Francis and Mobley should be traded because they don't worship Ming. I was also trying to show how absurd the intensity of people's feelings have become around here. I love the Rockets, but they're a sports team. Lately, people have been ready to go to war over their opinions.
gotcha Oski,...just mentioned it cuz someone else mentioned it in another thread... I TOO need a break from all these Pro-Ming, Anti-Ming threads...to the hangout!
That looks hilarious!!! That would be tight if they would show that on NBC when the Rockets kick the Lakers ASS in the Championship!!!
HAHAHAHAHA! *gasp* HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAH! i could just imagine Steve Francis singing Michael Jackson's "Dont stop till you get enough" like Chris Tucker did in Rush HOur 2. HAHAHAAHHA!
I think the guys at TNT could probably put something like that together. The way they always make fun of EJ, Kenny, and the Chuckster.
