Just got it and figured out how to use it the other night. How many of you use it? I find it much easier to find things on mIRC then Kazaa. Though it is complicated, the vast amount of files floating around is worth it. Does anyone have any channels that are favorites? Recommended? Any good servers?
I use to have it would go talk in the chat for the bbs, never knew u could get files off of it, prob be to complicated for me to get them.
Bastards! mIRC used to be free last time I logged on, like maybe a few months ago. But then I try to log on today, and their webpage opens and says that it is now shareware, my free "evaluation" period is up, and it's $20 for the full version.
Can somebody please explain how to download stuff from mirc. Please ive tried but have failed misrebly.
Mirc files are sent through direct connections between users in a chat channel. Let's say you want to download something...so you go to an appropriate channel. In the channel there will be other users who run these programs call "servers" that tell other users what files they are sharing. These servers also tell you how to get them to send you the files you want. For example, the xdcc servers will respond to messages like: /msg OtherUsersname xdcc send #1 where #1 or refers to file #1 on OtherUsersname's list of files that he's sharing. That's only for xdcc servers though. Usually, other users run different servers but they normally tell you how to "trigger" sends. That should get you started.
Trying to connect to the bbs chat, think i have everything setup right, but wont let me connect, you go to the options and for IRC network you put random, and below that you put random us dalnet server right? then from that i can type the #houstonrockets thing in and connect right?
Ahh i was thinking that might of been the problem since when i used to get on it was on webnet. thanks
