It appears to me that JVG is likely to dole out MINUTES something like: 5 Yao 32/DM 16 4 JuW 24/Mo 24 3 JJ 32/Boki 16 2 TMc 38/BS 10 1 BS 20/TL &/or CW 28 This leaves Spoon minuteless, short of an injury. This leaves RG and Padgett on reserve. So, does this demonstrate that this is the starting group in November? Could a trade affect the rotation? If so, only Howard and Lue are reasonable trade baits IMO.
Mo didn't play 24 minutes last year, and Juwon is better than Cato. I think they will keep Juwon and move Taylor at the deadline, if possible. If nothing materializes, then he will sit unless Juwon has trouble. Upshot - 10-15 minutes. No way they get equal time. Taylor is just too one-dimensional. Point guard - I'm guessing CW and Lue, preferred, with Sura getting just spot duty. JVG said something about that, on his 610 interview. Something like - Sura's not a point guard. CW is the JVG guy, and Lue has experience with Tmac. Their job is to not screw up. We're not looking for them to create. Given that, I'm looking at CW on top, unless he gets burned.
yao 36 - deke 12 howard 30 - mo 18 tmac 40 jj 30 - sura 26 ward 24 - lue 24 boki won't get into the rotation.
If that is to be the case, we will see sooner rather than later. They have to decide whether to pick up his option by Oct 31.
Assuming everyone is healthy--an average of something like this: 5 Yao 34/DM 8/JH 6 4 JuW 24/Mo 24 3 JJ 34/Boki 8/ TM 6 2 TM 34/BS 14 1 CW 18/TL 24/BS 6 JH (or MoT) and BS will get spot duty at the 5 and 1 when we want to go small/scoring or big/defensive, respectively. There is a lot of flexibility in the Rockets line-up to create match-up problems or a change of pace. a few key factors: #1 injuries. Spoon only get meangingful minutes if there is an injury to one of our 4 primary bigs, otherwise it is garbage time for him. Similar for Padget, unless perhaps Boki and Sura prove worthless at the 3 point line. #2 wild cards. How does Boki play? If he disappears this could create more burden for Tmac, JJ and Sura to take on in the swing position minutes. How does Sura fit? If he plays excellent he will eat into Ward's time at the 1 or squeze JJ or Boki's time in the swing positions. Everyone else I have a pretty good feel for what they can and cannot do, and will or will not due. Boki and Sura are the one's who can majorly re-arrange the rotation with their team play, or lack of it.
I was surprised when Collier's was not picked up. I'll be looking to that, as well. I believe the fellow can play -- physically. I question his game/mental 'confidence'/toughness. I am rooting for him -- he's likable.
my thoughts: 5 YM:34 / DM:14 4 JH:28 / MoT:20 3 JJ:36 / Boki:8 / TMac:4 2 Tmac:36 / BS: 10 / Boki:2 1 CW:20 / Lue:24 / BS:4 with Weatherspoon and Padgett on the IR for most of the season BTW, while researching Bob Sura on NBA.com and looking at his profile, I notice that he will wear #3. Why is he allowed to wear #3?
And how minutes will be dished out hasn't? I seem to remember this topic 3-4 times. But then again maybe those were unofficial threads and Xiki's is the official thread on the topic.
